Every one  probably have an idea of what a positive mindset or positive attitude is  ?

“Positive thinking is a mental and emotional attitude that focuses on the bright side of life and expects positive results .”

Another, more comprehensive definition comes from Kendra Cherry at Very Well Mind (2017B):

* Positive thinking actually means approaching life’s challenges with a positive outlook*. It does not necessarily mean avoiding or ignoring the bad things; instead, it involves making the most of the potentially bad situations, trying to see the best in other people, and viewing yourself and your abilities in a positive light .”

We can extrapolate from these definitions and come up with a good description of a positive mindset as the tendency to focus on the bright side, expect positive results, and approach challenges with a positive outlook* .

Having a positive mindset means making positive thinking a habit, continually searching for the silver lining and making the best out of any situation you find yourself in*

A positive mindset is essential in the classroom because The positive thinking basically assists students to feel more relaxed and happier, which transform to makes it easier to focus on tasks and grasp new knowledge. … If the students cannot learn the way teachers taught them, so it’s essential; for teachers to teach the way they love to learn.03-Jun-2020 the positive mindset towards learning has the prospective to boost the function’s mind’s memory.

Some times at school we may  feel a burden to students as students have so much homework, sports, and other activities. Because of this, students have many negative thoughts* in their minds. It keeps students away from executing goals and also blocks them from moving forward in life. Whether it is developing, learning, or acquiring happiness, negative thoughts block each and everything in a student’s life.

But the question arises on how to maintain a positive mindset in the classroom? For this, the teachers and even parents both can play a massive role in teaching students how to think positively. In the classroom,

Positive thinking has several mental, emotional, and physical and benefits. Along with this, the positive attitude can assist students in coping with stress, enhance student’s overall wellbeing, and even boost their immune system. The studies also have shown that positive thinking can influence a student’s capability to solve problems and learn new things. The positive thinking basically assists students to feel more relaxed and happier, which transform to makes it easier to focus on tasks and grasp new knowledge.

*Parents can help in maintaining A Positive Mindset In The Classroom:

1. Manage Stress

When children are feeling stressed or anxious, then it becomes difficult to maintain a positive mindset in the classroom.

2. Set their Own Learning Goals

Setting clear learning objectives and then tracking the progression towards them is one of the finest ways to enlarge achievements and enhance stimulation.

3. Push themselves  To Do More Each Day

The positive mindset means believing in yourself and your capabilities. To maintain a positive mindset, it’s essential to do more work today than you did yesterday.

4. Surround them With Positive People

If you want to maintain a positive mindset in the classroom, then the surrounding also matters a lot. The surrounding that you keep also has a massive impact on your attitude.

5.tell them that Learn From Your Mistakes

For a positive mindset, it’s essential to learn from your mistakes. The mistakes are not only avoidable, however, but they are also really essential in terms of learning new things.

Maintain a positive mindset all the time is may be difficult for students; even all of us, however, it doesn’t mean we should not try harder to maintain a positive attitude.

6.Loving Kindness Meditation

Dr. Barbara Fredrickson found that just six weeks of training in a form of meditation focused on kindness and compassion resulted in increased positive emotions,

“May you feel safe. May you feel happy. May you feel healthy. May you live with ease.”

7.Helping Others

Helping others is obviously beneficial to other people, but it will also enhance your child’s own positive feelings and attitude.

8.Recording Daily Awe Moments

Dr. Fredrickson explains that positive thinking can stem from recognizing and appreciating small moments of happiness and beauty. These simple moments can include laughter, a hug, a beautiful sunset,

9.Setting and Achieving Goals

goal-setting helps people become more optimistic, positive thinkers with a greater sense of well-being.

To help your child achieve goals and develop more long-term positive thinking, try using Dr. Oettiengen’s WOOP strategy

W*ish – Help your child come up with a goal she would really like to accomplish.

*O*utcome – Engage your child in visualizing the best outcome that could result from accomplishing this goal.

*O*bstacle – Take wishing and visualizing a practical step further by generating a list of obstacles that could prevent your child from reaching the goal..

*P*lan – Finally, make plan for dealing with these obstacles

Intelligent and Wise

That person is very intelligent”

POPULAR EARLY CHILDHOOD METHODS

There are different popular early childhood methods known , the facts and features of all three will help readers to realise how our *Hasti school is the perfect school for the* holistic*  growth of a child*

Montessori

Waldorf

 Reggio Emilia

Above mentioned are three highly-regarded early education methods*.

Facts about Montessori

Montessori is the name of a very popular approach for teaching preschool and primary age children.

Dr. Maria Montessori (1870-1952) was born and raised in Italy. She came from a family of modest means. Despite the many obstacles which stood in her way Maria earned her degree from the University of Rome in 1896. Her specialty was pediatric medicine.

While Dr. Montessori was working towards her degree, she had studied and worked with mentally disabled children. She got her chance to put her experience, observations, and theories into practice when she was invited to open a school for the children of working-class families in a low-income housing project in Rome in 1907.

facts about Montessori schools

1. There are over 8,000 Montessori schools in the U.S.

Most Montessori schools belong to the American Montessori Society or the Association Montessori Internationale which was founded in 1929 by Dr. Montessori herself.

2. Not every Montessori school is the genuine article.

Dr. Maria Montessori never trademarked the name ‘Montessori’. As a result, anybody can call their school Montessori.

3. Montessori schools are individually owned and operated.

Montessori schools are not a franchise operation. Each Montessori school is individually owned and operated.

4. Montessori schools are considered progressive schools.

If you are looking for a so-called ‘traditional’ style of teacher-directed learning, then you will be disappointed. Montessori schools are almost always ‘progressive’ schools.

5. Montessori schools use specially designed materials.

Dr. Montessori designed sensorial materials for the purpose of developing a child’s five senses. The materials include the cylinder blocks, the pink tower, the brown or broad stair, the red rods, the colored cylinders and more. As well there is a host of other materials used for the learning and discovery activities of older children. Upper school teachers are usually expected to develop their own materials.

that.

Five Facts About Waldorf Schools

As you explore your elementary school options, take time to find out about Waldorf education. Waldorf schools, or Steiner schools as they are often called, had their genesis in the writings and philosophy of Austrian philosopher and social reformer Rudolf Steiner

.

To put Steiner into context, think of him as northern Europe’s equivalent of Dr. Maria Montessori.  These two remarkable people shared something in common which would ultimately lead to the establishment of educational movements based on their philosophies and approaches: namely that children from the less-privileged strata of society were capable of achieving the same levels of academic accomplishment as children from more privileged homes.

Here are  some facts about  Steiner Waldorf schools

1. Waldorf schools can be found worldwide.

Unlike Montessori schools which have multiage classes, Waldorf schools generally are K-12 schools.

The Steiner method calls for three levels of education following a child’s natural growth and developmental patterns  Waldorf education, also known as Steiner education, is based on the educational philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, the founder of anthroposophy. Its pedagogy strives to develop pupils’ intellectual, artistic, and practical skills in an integrated and holistic manner..

2. Child-centered and teacher-guided instruction is a hallmark of Waldorf education.

Teaching in Waldorf schools is child-centered and teacher-guided.  A focus on the child is something that Waldorf schools share with Montessori and other progressive schools. Whereas Maria Montessori created materials for her students to work with, discover and learn, the Waldorf approach depends on the students to develop their imaginations by creating their own materials. The arts are integrated into every lesson and assignment in a Waldorf classroom.

An Ascending Spiral of Knowledge explains the Waldorf curriculum and how it is taught. What is important to you and me as we evaluate a Waldorf school for our children is to understand that Waldorf schools are progressive schools. You will not find teachers teaching to a test or issuing grades to students. That approach does not fit into the Steiner philosophy of education.

3. Each Waldorf school is a free-standing legal entity.

Waldorf schools are individually owned and operated. Waldorf schools are not a franchise operation. Each Waldorf school is individually owned and operated.

A unique aspect of a Waldorf school’s governance is that the teachers run everything on a day to day basis. Parents are also actively involved in the school’s life. All genuine Waldorf schools are authorized and accredited by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America.

4. Waldorf schools are progressive schools.

Waldorf schools are considered progressive schools. Like Montessori schools, you won’t find a regimented, traditional learning environment in a Waldorf school. The classes do follow the traditional grade structure. The Waldorf approach means that the same teacher will stay with the class from 1st through 8th grade.

The value of teacher continuity in the Waldorf setting is enormous. The same set of children which the teacher knows so well moves up with her to the next level. There is no adjusting to a new, unfamiliar teacher. Instead, more layers of knowledge are added with that familiar, trusted guide in charge.

5. Waldorf schools have arts integrated across the curriculum.

The Waldorf curriculum emphasizes the arts and development of children’s imaginations. Music and an artistic form peculiar to Waldorf schools known as eurythmy are integral parts of a curriculum centered on core subjects English language and writing, poetry, drama, history, foreign languages, mathematics, geography, and the sciences are all components in a Waldorf high school curriculum.

Five Facts About Reggio Emilia

Reggio Emilia is an approach to early childhood education which originated in Italy after World War II. While not as widely known as the Montessori and Waldorf methods, Reggio Emilia has attracted a small but extremely loyal following in the United States.

The foundation of the Reggio Emilia approach Children must have some control over the direction of their learning;

•           Children must be able to learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, and observing

•           Children have a relationship with other children and with material items in the world that children must be allowed to explore;

•           Children must have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves.

1. It is strictly an early childhood education approach.

Reggio Emilia values “the potential of all children to think, learn, and construct knowledge.” Like Montessori, Reggio Emilia is a progressive, child-centered approach to education.

2. It is not a formal, doctrinaire approach.

Unlike the Waldorf and Montessori schools, there is no formal teacher training, credentialing and authorization process for Reggio Emilia. The idea is that teachers and parents take the concepts learned by observation and interaction with Reggio Emilia and incorporate them into their classrooms.

3. It grew out of the aftermath of World War II.

4. Reggio Children is the organization which promotes the Reggio approach.

5. It is an international movement.

Role of communication skill

Role of Communication Skills for Academic Success

“Communication works for those who work at it.” – John Powell.

We’ve all heard people emphasizing the importance of communicatory skills. These skills are beneficial for both interpersonal relationships as well as are in demand professionally.

We at our Hasti Public school try to focus a lot on improving the communication skills of our students as our responsibility by making them ask questions and by asking them questions .At our Hasti public school firmly believe that curiosity and courage to ask questions is the seed of communication skill .

The moment a child takes birth, it makes an announcement of his/her arrival with the first cry. As children grow, parents start modelling conversation skills thereby aiding the development and nurturing the communication skills of children by making them capable of expressing themselves. While growing up, children tend to ask a lot of questions and this innate desire or *curiosity to know the world by asking questions acts as a catalyst in communication.

Just like plants need the right amount of sunlight, water, clean soil, and some nutrients in the soil for food. *Our learners should be taught the art of listening, speaking, receiving and giving feedback and most importantly of asking questions.

WHY

HOW

WHAT

WHERE

WHEN

Why Is Questioning Skill Important In The Teaching And Learning Process?

“If I had influence with the good fairy who is supposed to preside over the christening of all children, I would ask her gift to each child in the world be a sense of wonder so indestructible that it would last throughout life” (Rachel Carson 1965)

The above  quote by Rachael Carson explains to us that a child’s world is full of excitement and wonder . To strengthen the natural instinct of wondering, questioning is an important skill to be developed in learning, a good question can open minds. It is a question that often leads us to wonder, reflect, discover and challenge new ideas, uncover new meaning by taking us from the known to unknown.

Asking questions is a worthy way of obtaining more information about a particular concept or idea, or simply starting a conversation and keeping it going. Those with good questioning skills are often also very good listeners as they spend more time absorbing information from others than sharing their own judgements and opinions. Questioning is at the heart of communication, it is an expansion of critical communication skills in children. A great question is equal to great communication hence questioning is the key mantra to successful communication.

Promoting learner questions in class is a significant role of an Inquiry teacher. They are always striving hard to get their learners to be questioners, who are thirsty to find out new information, critique about the world around them and find out more about who am I as a learner?

Develop A Culture Of Questioning In Their Classrooms

Nearly a century ago, John Dewey made a prescient observation about classroom culture and questioning that still holds true today:

No one has ever explained why children are so full of questions outside of the school, and the conspicuous absence of display of curiosity about the subject matter of school lessons.

The real issue is in the classroom culture, here would point out that teachers have enormous power, their behaviour will determine an impact on the climate of questioning in the classroom

A teacher’s curiosity infects the entire classroom in a positive way, they need to model curiosity and foster an environment where learners feel safe and comfortable in asking questions*.

The answers you get depend on the questions you ask. Whilst it raises a dialogue or a conversation that goes back and forth between two or more people, this kind of collaborative communication will lead learners in deep thinking, allow them to reflect on their own learning and find constructive solutions to problems and issues around them Without further delay

What is communication?

The simple act of giving, sharing, or receiving information among two or more individuals is known as ‘communication’.

Without mutual understanding and communication, human existence wouldn’t be possible. Communication acts as a building block to make things moving so it is very important to brush up on our skills now and then, to stay updated.

Why communication skills are important?

For mutual understanding, good communication skills are very important. Telling something confidently or asking questions can give you clarity about any subject at the same time quietly listening to someone’s explanation can give you a better understanding from their point of view.

Given below are few tips will help you improve your communication skills:

•           Maintain a poised and composed body posture. Body posture speaks a lot about your personality. Don’t slouch while sitting, make eye contact, match tone, and pitch with the other person while talking to them.

•           Use a correct medium to communicate depending upon the seriousness of a situation. Serious matters should be discussed verbally on call while light conversations can take place over texts or emails.

•           Always be self-confident while you talk and respect other’s opinions.

•           Be a good listener first and then communicate. Just to prove a point don’t dismiss what other people want to say.

•           Speak less and effective with present-mindedness.

•           Don’t mistake confidence for arrogance, a good communicator is always friendly and makes the other person comfortable while conversing.

Always remember, a good communicator will first listen while interacting with others and then responds appropriately. To become a leader these are the skills you should work on to win over people or anything in life.

Aims of Education

HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL AND JR COLLEGE ,DONDACHA                                                                                                                                      BLOGNO.95                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Our Hasti school school is doing its best in accomplishing  the objectives of  child centric  education by using the perfect blend of traditional values with advanced technology. The school is imparting education for the holistic development of the children .here is small attempt to have a quick look in to the   the aim of education as propounded by eminent thinkers and educationists namely Mahatma Gandhi , Rabindranath Tagore, Tarabai Modak ,J Krishnamurthy and  Gijubhai Bedhaka

  * According to J.Krishnamurti

His Philosophy of Life: Jidddu Krishnamurti is one of the greatest religious teacher who advocated a spirit of doubt and inquiry and disregarded blind faith and acceptance. He opined that all human beings are first of all human beings and not Hindus, Muslims or Christians and we should have a deep sense of reverence for nature and all its creations. He insisted that self-knowledge is different from academic knowledge. Self: knowledge is concerned with the social problems that disturb us and incoherence that is within individuals.

Aims of Education according to J.Krishnamurti :

He was a critique of imposing thinking, but advocated development of independent thinking. Education is creation of integrated human beings who are mature, fearless, self-aware, good and loving. Education consists in understanding the Child as he is, and not imposing on him an ideal of what we think he should be, because sensitivity can never be awakened through compulsion.

Education must also develop right kind of relationship between individual and society. Education must free mind intelligently from , the desire for reward which breeds fear and conformity. Rather, it should give freedom, encourage understanding of inherited tendencies and environmental influences, which condition the mind and heart and bring out an integrated individual.

Aims of Education According to Gijubhai Badheka.

His Philosophy of Education: He was a great thinker from Gujarat. He emphasized on child-centered education. His novel ideas about education are given in his book “Divasapna” which is an imaginary story of a teacher who rejected the orthodox system of education. He actually was a teacher who later became head master of a school but he did not like education system. So, he resigned and started a pre school on experimental basis. -He wanted school to be a place children love to be in. he advocated an atmosphere of independence and self-reliance.

Aims of Education according to Gijubhai Badheka :

He took school as Mandir and accordingly named his institutions as Bal Mandir, Kishore Mandir, Vinery Mandir to clarify that no physical or mental torture should take place in a school. He suggested learners must be given freedom to have their own ideas. He must be given an opportunity to learn by doing as per their age and interest.

Education must cultivate rationality, harmony, balanced, natural and useful life. Education is the process of complete unfolding of a child’s personality. It should also develop sense, training, motor efficiency and self-learning. In nutshell, he emphasized complete unfolding of child’s personality in a complete free atmosphere.                                                                                                                                                  Aims of education according to Mahatma Gandhi- “Man is neither mere intellect, nor the gross animal body, nor the heart or soul alone. A proper and harmonious combination of all the three is required for the making of the whole man and constitutes the true economics of education” .

Aims of education are implied in the very meanings of education. He has given two sets of aims viz. immediate and ultimate aims of education.

1. Ultimate Aim:

Ultimate aim of education is identical with the goal of life, which is ‘Self-realization’. Self-realization is the realization of the self proper. True education should result not in the material gains but in spiritual uplift. Gandhiji laid great stress on religious education which teaches fundamental virtues of truth, love, justice and non-violence. According to Gandhiji, “Like without religion is life without principles.“Gandhiji is also of the opinion that God could be achieved not by returning into jungles but by living in a society and serving it. He preferred to call a student “Brahmachari”, a searcher after God:

Self-realization can take place through self-control, character and abstinence.

2. Immediate Aims

Immediate aims include ‘bread and butter aim’, the cultural aim, the harmonious development of all powers, the moral or character development aim, and sociological aim

Cultural Aim- According to Gandhiji cultural aspect of education is more important than the literacy. Culture is the foundation, the primary thing which the girls ought to get from here. It  should show in the smallest detail of your conduct and personal behaviour, how to sit , how to walk, how to dress etc. it is the education through which students or everyone learn the glorious culture of the country-India, its incredible arts, religions and so on. Education is the device which makes them familiar with our great culture and it is to be taught that how do they adopt and what is the importance of value of our culture. Thus Gandhiji laid much emphasis on cultural aim of education and recommended that Geeta and Ramayana to be taught as a means of introducing students to their rich cultural and spiritual heritage

Harmonious development:- Education should develop all the three levels i. e. 3RS- read, write and arithmetic The education should help in feeling what is taught and what happens to him and to express, what he feels and also what he wants to do. So all the faculties of person should be developed. Writing and reading will make him literate and arithmetic will help in calculating day-to-day expenses and more importantly it will help in logical thinking and analyzing things

1.       The Moral or Character Building Aim:- It is the chief aim of education. The central purpose of education is to build character. If choice is to be made between character and other things in life, then ever thing else can be subordinated to the former. Man must be a man of word. He must be ready to do something for the humanity at the first call to this conscience.

2.        Social and individual Aim:-  The aim of education of Gandhiji is both social and individual. He wanted individual perfection and a new social order based on “Truth” & “Non-violence”. Education trains an individual and makes him an ideal citizen who will help his nation. An individual learns so many things from surrounding, culture, society and so on and he progresses simultaneously society progresses because the individuals’ growth is nothing but the growth of the society and nation.

3.      Bread and Butter Aims:-This is also called utilitarian aim. It is due to this aim that he gave the principle of ‘self-supporting education’. The educand should not only be made capable of earning own livelihood in later life after school but also during the schooling. The child must be an earning unit who must be self- sufficient right from the beginning of the education of the child. This man is really an important aim of even modern education.

EVERY TEACHER IS A PARENT AND EVERY PARET IS A TEACHER

Teachers At our Hasti Public school understand that both Teaching and learning are important,  but we  at the Same time  know very well that  it’s not what children are learning, but how they are learning that is of most importance  and therefore to make every child independent learner,   modern and impactful methodologies  and metacognition strategies are used . Education at our Hasti school is children centric, and all efforts are made for holistic development of child.

For comprehensive and integrated learning of children the involvement of parents is an important in put

Nowadays, it is important to nurture children as confident and strong citizens with capabilities to accomplish any task by their own and parents play an important role  in it,

Parents play an important role in educating the child. In modern times, the term education is not limited merely to bookish knowledge and getting grades; it engulfs a vast area with important factors such as developing self-confidence, making your child socially secure, inculcating emotional strength among them, and problem solving etc.

Even if you think you don’t know much about learning and teaching, your child keeps learning from you over the years

when your child goes to primary and then secondary school, you can help your child have a positive attitude to learning, just by being positive yourself and communicating with your child’s One of the best ways to support your child’s learning and education is by building a good relationship with your child’s school teachers.

Children learn in different ways – some learn by seeing, some by hearing, some by reading, some by doing. at this stage, children still learn through play. Plenty of unstructured, free play helps balance formal lessons at school. It also gives children a chance to unwind after the routines and rules of school.

Children also learn by using objects  in many different ways. When your child is experimenting, exploring and creating with a range of materials, they learn about problem-solving in situations where there are no set or ‘right’ answers.

Children aren’t born with social skills – they have to learn them, just like they have to learn to read and write. Giving your child chances to play with other children  is a great way for them to develop skills for getting on with others.

Your child’s community connections can offer valuable learning experiences too. For example, visiting the local shops, parks, playgrounds and libraries or walking around your neighbourhood helps your child understand how communities work. As you and your child explore your community together, you can talk to your child about interesting things that you see or share things that you know.

If your family speaks a language other than English at home, this can be a great way for your child to grow up as a bilingual learner. Learning more than one language doesn’t harm or hold back children’s development. In fact, *being a bilingual child can have a lot of advantages – for example, better reading and writing skills.

When you know how your child learns best, you can help your child with all areas of learning. For example, if your child seems to learn best by seeing and doing but needs to write a story for school, they could make a comic strip to organise their ideas.

For developing self-confidence in your ward  , making your child socially secure, inculcating emotional strength among them, and problem solving etc. Parents need to look into* ;

Making a child emotionally strong: Be a patient listener. It helps your child to come to you for any of his/her turbulences. Make them understand that there is a solution to every problem and they will have to face different situations which might be sometimes unfavourable but they will have to overcome all the hurdles with a winning stroke of confidence.

Be the strength : The education can benefit the child only if he is adaptive to various changes as well as experiences in his/her life. Be friend to your child. Let your child discover a friend, philosopher and a guide in you. Making this happen he will consider you to be his strength. Let them realise that for all problems they have this door always open and welcoming with love.

Each child is unique  : Every child is different and unique; blessed with immense potential, curiosity and creativity blended with lots of learning attitude. Respect their individuality. Give them exposure to the fullest. Let them discover their own world; make their own choices and face their own challenges. Just be there as a support.

Providing platform: The more you learn and the more you know the well you can experience. Things come up by doing. Provide them with exposure by encouraging him to participate in school activities, go on tours and excursions, attend social gathering etc. Make them extrovert. Extrovert children openly express themselves. It reduces the chances of such children to harm themselves or others whereas. Introvert child does not mix with others and hence does not express which leads to inner conflicts within and might harm himself.

Social media awareness: In the ever changing and fast paced world of technology, the access to the internet and social media sites has become easy. It is now easily available at the touch of your finger. Many children get affected by the social networking sites and various posts on it. It becomes of great importance to make your child aware about the advantages and disadvantages of social networking sites and apps.

These few steps will surely help our children to emerge as strong individuals and thus with this we ‘The School’ and ‘The Parents’; will be able to educate our child in real sense. It is necessary that we all work on this and satisfy the real goal of education – Holistic development of a child!

more involved in making decisions about learning and organising activities.

Artificial Intelligence at schools

Right from e-commerce to healthcare to education, in each and every sector, the intervention of AI has increased by multifold. Artificial Intelligence is defined as the capability of a machine to imitate intelligent human behavior. each and every decision that we make is now data-driven. The best example of the same is the online recommendations that we receive while surfing retail websites such as *Amazon or Flipkart. The best examples of AI that we know of are ‘Cortana’ by Windows, ‘Siri’ by Apple and ‘Alexa’ by Amazon*.

Now, Imagine using similar technology to track the performance of an individual student based on his previous grades, participation, and performances. Won’t it help the student to enhance his or her performance?

Therefore the future of education is deeply linked with the development of new artificial intelligence technologies and computing.

Sensing this quite early our Hasti public school  has set up robotic lab ,has plans to  introduced B bot, robotics, coding etc. in the school curriculum .

AI helps teachers detect students with learning disabilities and address them at an early stage. Educational software also enables teachers to enhance teaching, customize courses, and simplify grading. 50At the same time, schools’ administrative aspects are automated with AI prediction and pattern learning tools. Hence AI augments the educational admin processes, content delivery, control, and assessment. Therefore, educators cannot overlook the benefits of AI education. This is not saying that AI isn’t without its challenges.

Advantages of Artificial Intelligence on Education

AI education comes with many benefits that make teaching and other admin processes easier for educators and schools. These are some of the advantages of artificial intelligence in education:

Monitor and Analyse Student Progress in Real-Time

Teachers can monitor and analyze students’ progress in real-time using AI tools. It means that the teachers do not need to wait until they compile annual report sheets. Also, AI gives teachers’ recommendations as to the areas that require repeat or further explanation. In this instance, AI smart analytics picks up on topics that most of the students struggled with.

Saves Time and Improves Efficiency

Because AI demonstrates human-like skills like learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving, there’s an apprehension about AI. Thus, the common notion is that AI will eventually take the place of teachers. This is not true. What AI does is handle the burden of repetitive tasks teachers and schools have to deal with daily.

For example, when using a grammar tool, the teacher doesn’t have to repeatedly correct students’ grammar. The students can use the AI-powered tools to learn word pronunciations, meaning, and proper usage. AI education is also beneficial to international students that are still struggling to learn a new language.

Furthermore, routine tasks, such as attendance, can be handled by AI. Thus, AI standard K-12 programs platforms like RobotLAB provide efficiency and effectiveness in input, outcomes, and workflow.

More Personalized Learning Experience

AI in education enables schools to carve out personalized learning experiences for their students. From student data, AI can analyze the student’s learning speed and needs. With the results, schools can personalize course outlines that enhance learning based on students’ strengths and weaknesses.

Craving out personalized coursework that addresses each student’s learning needs is something even the best of tutors find challenging. AI-based technologies make it easier for schools to make better-informed decisions. For instance, they can include topics that appropriately suit learning requirements.

Convenient and Improved Student-Teacher Interactions

AI education makes interaction more comfortable and convenient for both students and teachers. Some students may not be bold enough to ask questions in class. Such could be as a result of the fear of receiving critical feedback. So with AI communication tools, they can feel comfortable asking questions without the crowd.

While on the part of the teacher, they can give detailed feedback to the student. Sometimes, there isn’t enough time during classes to respond to questions in detail. They can also provide one on one motivation for any student that needs help.

Simplifying Administrative Tasks

Every educational institution has tons of school admin tasks they need to deal with daily. Including AI to their systems can help to automate such tasks. It means that administrators can have more time to run and organize the school more smoothly. Additionally, schools can make use of proofreading and editing services. Such services can help ensure that administrative documents are well written and error-free.

Challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Education

Irrespective of the benefits of artificial intelligence in education, there are still a few challenges. Some of these challenges include:

Cost of AI Technology

AI education comes at a high price. As new technology emerges, budgets will have to increase to cover the expenses. Besides the installation of AI software, schools will also need to consider the cost of maintenance of the software.

Thus, schools with little funding may find it challenging to implement AI-augmented learning. They also won’t get to enjoy the benefit of automating administrative tasks that take up staff time.

Little to no Room for Flexibility

No matter how analytical AI robotics can be, it cannot flexibly develop a student’s mind as a teacher would. While educators can proffer multiple problem-solving methods, AI doesn’t have alternative teaching methods.

INSPITE OF THE CHALLENGES OF AI ,ITS BENEFICIAL FOR STUDENTS AT PRIMARY LEVEL TOO SOME OF THE BENEFITS  ARE

Encourages imagination

PROVIDES Opportunities

Contributing to society

Decision-making skills  AI helps in clearing the clutter and helps in taking the correct and logical decision.

*ALL IN ALL  Artificial intelligence in education has brought about several beneficial changes. From classroom interactions, coursework learning, and admin processes, AI makes it all better. And the advantages keep improving and increasing

Entrepreneurship in schools

HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL & JR.COLLEGE, DONDAICHA

BLOGNO.92                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          *

Entrepreneurship is the ability and readiness to develop, organize and run  a business enterprise,

The 4 key concepts of entrepreneurship are as follows:

1.         Innovation

2.         Risk taking

3.         Vision

4.         Organisation

I remember Our chairman sir Hon’ble Kailashii jain ,once while sharing his views about innovativeness, having said that,  I quote “ looking  at any object (say a simple box to pack gift ) if  you think as  how can you make it better*,  then that is innovativeness    *the seed of the entrepreneurship .

Our Hasti school has plans to initiate the development of  entrepreneurial skills right from pre – primary classes*

Hasti school*is of  the view and opinion that Educational institutions must create entrepreneurial culture where students are *Explicitly encouraged to question, experiment, observe, and network to generate novel ideas where they are not afraid to take chances and fail. They must show tolerance to failure, as failure is a natural part of innovating.

Children should learn and must show tolerance to failure, because failure is a natural part of innovating

10 key entrepreneurial skills

Leadership skills

•           Communication skills. …

•           Attention to detail. …

•           Organizational skills. …

•           Risk-taking skills. …

•           Resourcefulness. …

•           Time management skills.

I remember during my teaching career in primary, secondary and sr. secondary level , I made it a priority to ensure my students were able to connect the information they were learning in class with the real-world*. At the time, teaching in this manner was not widely accepted. However, I knew that if my students couldn’t take what they learned in class and apply it to their daily and future lives, I was not doing my job as an educator.

Looking back at those days, some of the strategies and lessons I taught may have been considered unnecessary,  As technology, learning was changing at a rapid pace , I thought it is necessary to expose our students to areas such as entrepreneurship, innovation, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Teaching, modelling, and engaging students in entrepreneurship opportunities, helps to prepare youth for future opportunities.

Entrepreneurship teaches students about money, investing, business strategies, loans, and creating budgets. At the same time, students can learn critical life skills such as problem-solving, brainstorming ideas, taking risks, facing failure and getting up again, setting goals, working together, and feeling comfortable to work individually.

There are many ways teachers can begin to shine a light on these skills within their curriculum. Instead of teacher-focused learning, students become drivers in their own education, and teachers become guiding passengers.

Some students will demonstrate different talents in one area over another. Allow them to shine within their given abilities and talents, while adding in business elements.

Here are five strategies we can easily use in your classroom to encourage life-long entrepreneurship skills.

1. Brainstorm Bins: Set up a box in your class for brainstorming business ideas. You can use brainstorm bins as a way to kick off the school year’s most significant project. When you introduce this project early, you are telling your students that you believe in them, their ideas, and that their voices matter. You are also encouraging self-confidence while providing them with the space to own their learning. Brainstorm bins can be the catalyst for creating and sharing ideas in a safe place while encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

They can also help students to see the bigger picture because you can teach them how to set goals for a specific period of time. Every Friday, for the first month of school, go through their ideas together. As the year progresses, choose one entrepreneurial goal each month that can guide them toward presenting their final business projects at the end of the year.

2.Solution Boxes with complaint boxes Sometimes, students will find things to complain about in school. Rather than encouraging them to complain, set up a way for students to present their problems and to come up with solutions*. Encourage students to brainstorm ideas and present ways to fix concerning issues. Solution boxes help students to speak up and create solutions rather than complain about them. Diving into these solutions can also cultivate stronger relationships among students, provide a boost to their self-esteem, and encourage problem-solving instead of complaining.

3.Shark Tank for Kids:  let students watch some episodes of Shark Tank, if you think they are useful , especially episodes with younger entrepreneurs. If you do a quick Google search for the term, “Shark Tank kids,” you will find various Shark Tank videos with young people pitching their business ideas to the Sharks. Watch some of these videos with your students, discuss them, and then build your own Shark Tank competition at school. Shark Tank: Season 9 is now available on Indian Netflix.

4.Genius Hour: According to the Genius Hour’s website, Genius Hour is a movement that allows students to explore their own passions while encouraging innovation and creativity in the classroom. This time provides students with a choice in what they want to learn about or work on during a designated hour in school.

Google also implements Genius Hour into the workplace. These same genius hour principles are applicable in the classroom. As an educator, you can set up a certain amount of time for your students to work on passion projects.

You can also let them use this time to explore new things, take on a project, or focus on areas outside of the classroom they may want to discover.

Your students may be confused at first because this puts them in charge of their learning, rather than teachers telling them what to do. If they struggle at the beginning, you can brainstorm topics with them to get their imaginations brewing. You can also spend time researching different ideas before they start creating. Prepare them to share their findings and projects with other classes, schools, and even in approved digital venues. Throughout the process, you act as a facilitator of projects to ensure they stay on task.

Today, many teachers use Genius Hour in their classes. If you want to learn how to implement Genius Hour into your classroom, refer to the book The Passion-Driven Classroom: A Framework for Teaching & Learning by Angela Maiers and Amy Sandoval.

5. TED-Ed Clubs: If you are working with older students, encourage them to watch TEDx Teen Talks. TED Talks are powerful ways to demonstrate and practice public speaking skills, share innovative ideas, as well as provide the confidence some teens need to share their ideas.

Entrepreneurship should indeed be taught in schools because we need to catch them young. The children are at their creative best between the ages of 9 to 18. Hence, we need to provide them the right tools and mentorship to help them flourish by ideating and execution.

The enterprise education will help students develop skills like personal finance, decision making, creative thinking, and many more. We need to produce a curriculum that helps the students learn crucial life skills in a play-way method.

CRIATIVE THINING AND  CREATIVITY*

HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL & JR.COLLEGE,DONDAICH

BLOG NO.91

Creativity is the ability to make something new . This might be a picture, or a piece of music—but it might also be a new idea. Creative thinking, therefore, is the ability to think differently: to see a problem or issue from a new angle or perspective.Critical thinking is the ability to clearly and logically consider information that is presented to us. Creative thinking is about generating new, novel, or useful ideas.

High scores do not necessarily equate to effective learning and the onus of education is being defeated in the competitive mad race for marks writes AK Bakhshi

Creativity is the most difficult thinking skill to acquire, and also the most sought-after. We value it in our music, entertainment, technology, and other aspects of our existence. We appreciate and yearn for it because it enriches our understanding and can make life easier.

Creativity always starts with imagination, and history shows that many things we imagine are later actually created.

Gene Roddenberry imagined the Star Trek flip communicators in 1966, and Motorola produced them in 1996

In the mid-1800s, Augusta Ada King envisioned a language for computing machines that didn’t even exist; today she is honored as the founder of modern programing languages.

creating is the highest order of thinking, it should be in the forefront of all learning environments and an end goal. When students create what they imagine, they’re in the driver’s seat.

Creative thinking involves students learning to generate and apply new ideas in specific contexts, seeing existing situations in a new way , identifying alternative explanations, and seeing or making new links that generate a positive outcome.

The recently announced National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasises on the need to shift focus from examination and rote learning to conceptual clarity, critical-thinking,problem-solving,innovation and  creativity

Creativity is one of the most important human resources which enable us to look past what exists and discover new ways of thinking*.

Nurturing creativity in our students is, therefore, the need of the hour and hence our Hasti school is trying to  introduce major reforms* in our teaching learning pedagogy* .

According to a reliable study, 98% of the kids at the time of entering schools think different but when they go through the education system, at the age of 25 only 2% think different. This happens so because from childhood we  provide ready-made answers to the questions and hence strips the learners of their ability to think on their own* therefore

at our Hasti school  *we do not ask children to bring answers from home  as home work but instead to bring questions  which we intend to discuss in  class  room and make children give answers differently this gives  exposure to their-creativity* .

The passive one sided teaching discourages questioning, discovery, experimentation and application in the classroom and thus draws them to rote learning  .

This situation is further aggravated by the misunderstanding that good marks equate to effective learning and the onus of education is being defeated in this competitive mad race for high marks.

Creativity is not an injection which you can give to someone . For creativity, you need to create an environment for curiosity and a way to encourage students and get the best out of them . Teachers can play the most important role in nurturing creativity among students. However, as the teachers themselves are mainly the product of the same old system which focused on rote learning, therefore they need to be massively trained in various ways to nurture creative thinking in students

Some of the ways to nurture creativity amongst students include:

1. New teaching technology  Students need to be encouraged to ask innumerable whys and why nots . Curiosity is the seed of creativity

Therefore students ,at our Public school & Jr.colllege are encourage to ask & to   make more and more questions  & thereby advocates  & encourages  curiosity and hence creativity

2. ICT-empowered pedagogies: In this information age the teachers need to be empowered with the new ICT-empowered pedagogies such as blended learning and flipped classroom which can help meet the learning needs of the 21st Century.

3. Experimental learning and exploration  There is an urgent need to shift focus from passive learning to experiential learning i.e learning by doing. As we have at our school regular students seminars .This approach is extremely effective in helping the students to grasp, explain and retain otherwise difficult concepts.

4. Focus on keen observation: Keen observation of the world around has caused many important breakthroughs in science and medicine and in the social and business worlds. Strong observation skills are found to be greatly linked to greater creativity,

5. Avoid excessive use of the internet: One of the main reasons behind the lack of creativity in our students is the excessive usage of the Internet. This has impacted adversely the generation of original ideas and plans.

6. Reforms in Assessment Pattern: Assessment drives learning. Special training needs to be given to the teachers through workshops in setting examination questions which test out of box thinking and hence creativity. Assessment process needs to be made more scientific to encourage multiple skills of the students.

7. Teaching beyond curriculum: At least one lecture per week should be devoted to “teaching beyond curriculum”. In this lecture, students may be asked to decide what they will like to do in one year or in one semester. This project may involve anything like writing poetry, news report, general articles, scientific fantasies etc.

Imagination and creativity are the traits that fuel the future. Both serve to inspire students and should be integrated into every part of learning. In planning and designing learning for students, this we know: Teaching students how to think is more important than teaching students what to think.

There are various activities and work sheets that if given to students individually or in groups/  bubble,  will encourage them to think independently and creatively .

Some  such activities are given in our next blog. please do read and record your impression and do share this to your colleagues and teaching community   if you like.

MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH OF STUDENTS

HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL & JR.COLLEGE,DONDAICHA                                                                                                                                                          BLOG NO.90                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Emotional fitness is defined as the state wherein the mind is capable of staying away from negative thoughts and can focus on creative and constructive tasks. Being emotionally fit is the key to success in all aspects of life.

What do successful people all have in common? They don’t allow challenges and setbacks to hold them back; instead, they use these moments as opportunities to propel themselves forward. They are resilient and determined, and they bring that positive energy wherever they go.In other words, they have emotional fitness

When you experience something difficult or painful, do you bounce back and continue on your journey, or do you dwell on it and let it control your state? That is Resilience

It refers to a person’s ability to cope with life’s ups and downs and bounce back after a difficult experience. Schools should be teaching them resilience skills, we are preparing children to cope with challenges now and into the future.

Mental health is more than the absence of mental illness. Mental health is a state of well being where people can meet their learning potential, cope with normal stresses, and are connected to community and their friends*For most people, mental health issues emerge when they are young — half of all mental disorders emerge by the time people are 14 years old and three quarters by 25 years old – the same period when most people are in education.

Student well being underpins every aspect of a student’s schooling, from their ability to learn in class, to their ability to build positive relationships. Educators now understand that well being is a fundamental component of the school experience and is just as important as academic learning.

Student well being can be broadly defined as a student’s overall development and quality of life. Well being is a holistic term that encompasses all aspects of a student’s life, including their physical, social, mental and emotional state

Well being does not mean students feel good all the time. Emotions such as sadness, fear, anger and frustration are all normal human experiences, and actually help them to learn, grow, stay safe and build meaningful connections with others. Wellbeing means they have the capacity, skills and resources to cope with these emotions in a way that is positive and constructive for their development.

Mental health is defined by the World Health Organisation as “the capacity of thought, emotion, and behaviour that enables every individual to realize their own potential

As with well being, our mental health is influenced by a range of biological, social, emotional, cognitive and environmental factors. Some of these factors are within our control, whereas others are largely out of our control. It is helpful for students to be aware of their own mental & emotional fitness THAT IS MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL HEALTH

They may feel worried, stressed or sad more days than not. They may be socially withdrawn or irritable with their family.

An understanding of common signs and symptoms, and an awareness of their own mental state, can help students to identify mental health concerns early and seek help to improve their well being.

Ways to Promote Student Well being in our School

Mindfulness lessons

In schools children to  take 10 minutes out from the hustle and bustle of the school day to reflect on their thoughts and feelings. Some ground themselves by thinking about their feet on the floor, while others concentrate on their breathing  a technique known as mindfulness.

In its simplest terms, mindfulness helps train your attention to be more aware of what is happening in the present moment, instead of worrying about what has already happened or might happen in the future.

Well being trackers

With student well being considered such a crucial aspect of school, you need to make sure you have effective systems and processes in place to monitor and manage it – and because resources and budgets are limited, automating as much of this where possible in essential.

So, many schools are looking towards digital platforms that integrate with their management information systems to record, monitor and manage all student concerns as and when they arise.

Teacher training

On the day to day, your teaching staff are constantly on the front line, assuming responsibility for each child in their care. Because of this, they are often expected to be the first to witness signs of any wellbeing and safeguarding concerns

To help support your teachers with this, school should  invest in some thorough training for all staff members

Yoga

*In our Hasti school we are   adopting widely recognised stress-combating activities such as yoga to curb some of the disciplinary *problems they’re facing and improve student wellbeing.

Tea & Talk sessions

One of the best ways to promote well being in schools is to increase awareness and encourage a positive dialogue surrounding it by making support more accessible for those who are struggling.

an easy way of doing this is by hosting open “tea & talk” or “cake & chat” sessions, where students and staff members can come and talk to a qualified professional or share the difficulties they’re facing with their peers, so they can workshop solutions together.

With more meaningful input about mental and emotional fitness we can help our students to become physically fit and mentally tough
