Assessments play a pivotal role in education, gauging student progress and informing teaching strategies.

In the modern era, we ,at our Hasti school, recognizing the importance of diversifying assessment methods to capture the full spectrum of student outcomes, making learning more authentic and engaging. The age-old reliance on traditional exams as the primary assessment tool is now under scrutiny.

Traditional Exams – Limitations

For ages, traditional exams and standardized tests have anchored educational assessment. Administered remotely, these exams can be a source of stress, potential bias, and demotivation. Relying on memorization, multiple-choice, or essay-based approaches.

The traditional examinations fall short in evaluating essential 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork.

Following are the limitations of traditional examinations T

a) Memorization over Understanding: Traditional exams tend to reward rote recall over genuine understanding. This method may overlook a student’s depth of knowledge and their ability to apply concepts critically. In traditional examination application part seems to be missing .

b) One-Size-Fits-All Approach: Standardized exam formats don’t always accommodate the varied learning styles, strengths, and interests of students. As a result, assessments can become unfair, failing to highlight individual competencies and areas for improvement.

c) Stress and Anxiety: The high-pressure environment surrounding exams can induce stress and anxiety in students. Such heightened emotions can adversely affect their performance, preventing them from showcasing their true potential.

At our Hasti school we are looking for a course evaluation method that puts the student’s knowledge to work, and therefore we are in favour of trying the alternative assessment method.

Unlike traditional evaluation methods that only assess the student’s knowledge, alternative assessment spurs the student to wear his or her thinking hat, and creatively apply the knowledge to solve a problem. Concept maps, portfolios, and open tests are some familiar examples of alternative assessments.

What is Alternative Assessment?

This is a method of evaluation that measures a student’s level of proficiency in a subject as opposed to the student’s level of knowledge. The overall goal of alternative assessment is to allow students to demonstrate their knowledge and execute tasks.

Alternative assessment is also called a performance test or authentic assessment because it is deeply rooted in one’s ability to do something by leveraging newly-gained knowledge.

You can ask your students to create a portfolio, work with others on specific projects or engage in any other type of activity that shows they have a full grasp of what has been discussed in the class or training.

let’s first look at some of the things alternative assessment is not*.

1.         Alternative assessment is not a high-stake or standardized method of evaluating students’ knowledge.

2.         It is not a replacement for other methods of classroom assessment like formative and summative assessment methods.

3.         Alternative assessment does not measure the learner’s performance.

4.         Results from alternative assessments are not presented as quantitative or numerical data.

We have noticed that Moving away from conventional exams, today’s educational landscape leans towards diverse methods that aptly capture 21st-century learning’s multifaceted nature. Embracing these methods we at our Hasti school trying to make learning more authentic and insightful and that is alternative assessment.

Alternative assessment is tailored to the specific needs and abilities of individual students.

It is an instructor-led assessment process. This means the teacher develops a unique method to measure the student’s ability.

Alternative assessment methods are flexible and continuously adaptable.

Examples of Alternative Assessment

•           Portfolio

You can ask students to build out a portfolio that demonstrates their knowledge of what has been taught in a class. (A portfolio is a collection of the different tasks a student has executed in the course of the class) or training.

•           Performance Test

Since alternative assessment is all about putting knowledge to work, we are going to design effective performance tests to help you rate a student’s level of skill or knowledge. A

•           Open Tests

An open test is a method of assessment that allows learners to refer to course materials as they take on tasks or write tests and examinations at our Hasti school we call it as HASTI OPEN BOOK TEST .(HOBT) The questions in an open test require the student to provide responses that show how well they understand the course.

•           Crib Sheet :- This is another form of open-book evaluation. Instead of bringing the entire course materials to a test or examination, the student selects important information from these materials to create some sort of abridged version called the crib sheet.

•           Take-Home Assessment Another way to assess your students’ abilities is to give them take-home exercises. Take-home exercises typically check 2 boxes.

•           Project-Based Assessments: Through hands-on, real-world projects, students can exhibit their grasp and application of concepts, stimulating creativity, critical thought, and problem-solving.

•           Rubrics: These criteria-driven frameworks elucidate performance expectations. Whether holistic or detailed, they provide clarity on evaluations and improvement pathways.

•           Peer and Self-Assessment: WE AT OUR HASTI SCHOOL Engage  students in the evaluation process nurtures critical thought, metacognitive abilities, and collaboration. It instills a sense of accountability and promotes a feedback-rich environment.

Benefits

•           Matches the curriculum’s learning objectives and outcomes.

•           Offers more valid and consistent evidence of student achievement.

•           Cultivates essential 21st-century skills and competencies

•           Boosts student motivation and immersion in the learning process.

•           Empowers students, granting them autonomy and ownership over their learning.

•           Stimulates creativity and innovative thinking.

•           Encourages a growth-oriented mindset and fosters a love for learning.

At our Hasti school  by giving special holiday home work  where children do not need text books , notes on the topic etc to complete the assessment or homework .

Our Holiday homework is designed wherein children have a  opportunities to display their understanding ,application  and learning.

As the assessment landscape undergoes transformation, the push is towards more holistic and significant methods. Acknowledging the constraints of traditional exams and transitioning to alternative assessment forms allows educators to sculpt a more inclusive and captivating learning atmosphere.

By persistently exploring and applying novel strategies, we can ensure our assessments genuinely capture student evolution and aptitude in this modern age.

Mind Management MM *

HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL & JR.COLLEGE , DONDAICHA

BLOG NO  248

*You have the TIME. Do you have the ENERGY?

Mind management is the process of controlling the thoughts and filtering anything that comes into our mind. It is the art of managing everything with an attentive mind and making the most of every situation.

As said by Lord Krishna, “ Your mind, if controlled, can be your best friend and if left uncontrolled can become your worst enemy. You should control your mind to push yourself towards success and not degrade yourself to anything other than that.

Mind management skills can transform your way of living and thought process. Mind management is an art that needs rigorous dedication and practice. It is controlling one’s mind. The art of being able to control, manage, and implement our mind is called mind management.

In today’s time, stress and anxiety have taken over our regular living. Not a second goes by when our mind remains free of thoughts. Every time there is one or another thought doing rounds in our head. Our stressful lives, 9 to 5 desk jobs, family, social life, and whatnot have conquered our heads.

In times like these, management has become very crucial. Humans have somehow forgotten their essence of living in the race of attaining something beyond themselves. Our whole life is the game of our mind. If we keep the charge of our mind, it can become our best friend.

I remember a short story

Once there was a painter who had the pride that he makes the most beautiful paintings in the entire world. He visited the king of a region to tell him that he can paint a wall of his kingdom gorgeously and that no one can paint anything like that ever. The king was impressed with his confidence and allotted him a wall to showcase his designs.

At the same time, one of the king’s ministers said that even he can create a painting as beautiful as the painting of the painter. Everyone was astonished. The king decided to allot the minister the wall opposite to the painter to showcase his creativity.

The next day, both of them started working on their walls with full enthusiasm. The walls were divided with curtains, and they could not see each other’s work. Days went by, and they kept working on their art.

Finally, the day of the result came out. The painter presented his painting, and the curtains were now raised. However, everyone was stunned to see the same painting on the minister’s wall. The king asked the minister how he made the exact same painting.

To this, he replied, “I just kept on cleaning the marble wall until it started shining like a mirror. The painting that you see on my wall is the reflection of the beautiful painting on the opposite wall.”

Everyone was impressed by the wisdom and thought of the minister, and both of them were rewarded.

It is exactly how our mind works! The more we cleanse and clear it, the brighter it shines. If we keep our minds clean and bright, it will reflect the beauty of everything that comes our way.

You’ve done everything you can to save time. Every productivity tip, every “life hack,” every time management technique. But the more time you save, the less time you have. The more overwhelmed, stressed, exhausted you feel.

Here are top 3 eye opening statistics on time management and productivity:

·      88% of working people procrastinate daily. …

·      The average worker spends 51% of every workday on low to no-value tasks.

·      Only 20% of people feel their work is under control daily.

To be more productive I think mind management has edge over the time Management.

Recently I came across a  book *Mind Management not time management by David Cadavy*. I was impressed. Few take away from book ;

Perspective shift-Being productive today isn’t about time management, it’s about mind management. Time management optimizes the resource of time. Mind management optimizes the resource of creative energy(.

First Hour Rule- Spend the first hour of your day working on your most important project.

Start of day-If you start your day working on the most important thing, there’s less of a chance for other things to get in the way.

* Creative tasks Versus analytical task*-Sometimes your mind is better-suited to think creatively. Sometimes your mind is better-suited to think analytically. Complete the work which requires creativity when mind is better-suited to think creatively. Complete the work which requires analysis when mind is better-suited for the same.

Sleep-A one-hour increase in average daily sleep raises productivity by more than a one-year increase in education.

Energy leakage-When you randomly switch from one activity to another, your energy leaks…If you’re doing that all the time, little of your energy is going toward traction which is important for task completion

Noise-Noise level can also affect your ability to think creatively…studies suggest that a background noise level of about seventy decibels is optimal for idea generation.

State of mind-Things are not difficult to make; what is difficult is putting ourselves in the state of mind to make them hence put mind into state of completing task.

We teachers are so fogged by the daily grind of planning and preparing that they often forget to focus on their mental health. However, a teacher is an indispensable resource in our education system and so is a teacher’s mental health.

Our Hasti school by way of various activities ( co-curricular and extracurricular provides opportunities for we teachers to be less busy and relax a bit . this is because I agree that   If they were only *somewhat busy, creative thinking decreased by nineteen percent. If they were extremely busy, creative thinking decreased by a whopping *forty-five percent.”

Experts say that stress of teachers  gets passed on from teachers to their students. Students in classrooms that have teachers experiencing burnout are said to have high levels of cortisol- a kind of stress hormone. High levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, in students can hinder their ability to focus, learn, and engage effectively in the learning process. This, in essence, creates a cycle where stressed teachers contribute to stressed students, resulting in a less conducive learning environment.

Productivity is less about time management than it is about mind management.

We all have the same number of hours during the day. How effectively we spend those hours really depends upon how well we can manage and harness our fragile mental energy”.I unquote.

Please feel free to give your ideas for additional input to Mind management and class room activities you are following to hel[p children to manage their minds  ,

use of whatsapp for education

HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL & JR.COLLEGE , DONDAICHA

BLOG NO  246

Our honourable chairman sir  sri kailasji jain,  in a informal communication,  gave an wonderful idea of Leveraging whatsapp for educational purposes.  and*it kindled my interest in to it . No one can deny that In recent years, technology has  revolutionized the way *education is delivered and received.

With the widespread use of smartphones, *messaging apps like WhatsApp have become an integral part of our daily lives.

Leveraging WhatsApp for educational purposes can offer numerous benefits, enabling educators to engage students and parents effectively. Our Hasti school has strategies to use  WhatsApp for education to foster a collaborative and enriching learning environment.

1. Creating WhatsApp Groups for Classroom Communication

One of the most straightforward ways to leverage WhatsApp for education is by creating dedicated groups for each class or subject.

Teachers can use these groups to share important subject wise information , in the form of question of the day( one or two questions to which students can submit answers and correct answers will be posted by coordinator or subject HOD,)  Moral education,  study  material for competitive exams*.,entrance tests and interviews etc. General knowledge, interview questions, geographical information which will   definitely help students to prepare  and *parents to  update their knowledge, in this age of competition.

2. Encouraging Discussion and Collaboration WhatsApp groups provide an excellent platform for fostering discussions and collaboration among students, share thought-provoking articles, or even conduct virtual debates on relevant topics , through a well organised system devised by  school . This not only encourages critical thinking but also helps in building a supportive and engaged learning community.

3. Sharing Multimedia Content  to enhance the learning experience. Teachers can share educational videos, infographics, podcasts, and other visual materials via WhatsApp. This approach caters to different learning styles, making the educational content more accessible and engaging for students.

4. Providing Personalized Feedback With WhatsApp’s private messaging feature, teachers can offer personalized feedback to individual students. This one-on-one communication allows educators to address students’ specific concerns, recognize their achievements, and offer guidance for improvement.

5. Parent-Teacher Communication.WhatsApp can serve as an effective tool for maintaining regular communication with parents. Teachers can create separate groups or broadcast lists to update parents on their child’s progress..

6. Gamification and Quizzes To make learning more enjoyable, teachers can incorporate gamification elements within WhatsApp groups. Regular quizzes, riddles, and puzzles can be organized, encouraging healthy competition among students.

7. Language Practice Groups*For language teachers, WhatsApp can be an invaluable tool to facilitate language practice. Teachers can create language-specific groups where students can engage in conversations, share language learning resources, and receive corrections from both the teacher and peers*

Therefore our school is of  the opinion that WhatsApp has evolved into a versatile and user-friendly platform, and  we educators of our Hasti School can capitalize on its features to engage students and parents effectively.

innovative cultural activities

HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL & JR.COLLEGE , DONDAICHA

BLOG NO  245

Our  school  gives adequate exposure  to the children and encourages  the participation of  children in  different types of cultural  and other extra-curricular activities.  *There is often debate about the importance of cultural activities in students’ lives. Some argue that students go to school primarily to gain knowledge, not to participate in extracurricular activities. However, this perception is changing as now parents ,by and large, are  starting to recognize the importance of cultural activities for holistic development of their children.

our school firmly believe that cultural activities can improve the academic performance of students. According to research by the National Center for Education Statistics, *

We strongly advocate that Participation in cultural activities enhances students’ sense of engagement or attachment to their school, and improves their attendance and performance in academics*.

Engaging in extracurricular activities can motivate students and encourage them to explore their potential. It also helps in the physical, behavioural, and social development of students.

The exposure to a variety of activities and opportunities to express themselves, build self-esteem, and develop social skills, all in all can contribute to the overall development of a student, and can contribute positively to their academic performance.

At the same time It is always better to be innovative and by simply introducing the variety of performing arts mentioned below, our school can raise interest levels among hitherto uninitiated students can find their inspiration.

*Some innovative culturalactivities mentioned below may help in developing skills in children  and may create interest in learning

1. Ventriloquy:- It is an art or practice of making one’s voice appear to come from somewhere else* , typically a dummy  of a person or animal.Try to speak a sentence without moving your lips. Yes, ventriloquism is that tough and that interesting indeed when we see dummy artists make their puppets talk in front of us. This is a very niche form of art and has very limited fan following.

We may take services of a ventriloquist to train children. A good ventriloquist blends comic relief and surprise for its audience by pronouncing only with his tongue. Children also get to learn interactive conversations.

2. Mime:-Theatrical performances are common but what if the actor with the loudest of the voices is asked to express his/her emotions without speaking at all?

Mime is an art form respected for its mode of self-expression and its difficulty levels.

Encourage students to try mime with simple, short storylines and gradually raise the intricacy of the story and difficulty levels. Practicing mime makes children very expressive.

3. Live art:-This is an interesting challenge for students. The task is to listen to an ongoing track of sounds or music, get involved in the ambience created by the track and make an artwork on canvas in real time*. This form of collaboration is done by  artists,  our talented drawing tachers may arrange demo sessions for children on any of Saturdays .

This task raises concentration span of children to a new level and enhances artistic interpretation of the environment. Teachers should be patient enough to help children appreciate this task by starting with 5-6 minute-long soundtracks and asking students to draw to the best out of their imaginations.

4. Standup comedy:-Who doesn’t love comedy? Yet, how many performers can be confident enough about influencing the audience with a series of jokes on stage? Standup comedy is a popular genre nowadays and children can increase self-confidence by testing their humour in front of their audience. In this way, children also learn to have a sense of humour but in a sensitive way  so as to not offend people.

5. Classical instrumental music

Often, vocalists or aficionados of modern musical instruments such as guitar, keyboard etc get the chance to perform at an event in school. Teachers should also recognize talents in traditional instruments such as the Veena, Sarod, Santoor, Sitar, Tabla, or Dholak . By encouraging such performances, children get exposed to the Indian classical music and many dying forms of folk music that need revival.

6. A capella:- You really don’t need an instrument for this performance as you create percussive and melodious sounds from your mouth. This Italian performing art can be  exhausting because it requires perfect coordination.  equal participation and excellent synchronization among the participants each of who imitate instrumental sounds to make an entire band performance. This routine also teaches a lot about team work to participants.

Cultural activities are the ultimate instruments for self-expression of a child. Innovating the modes of presentation of talent can unlock various kinds of  potential among the children.

Please feel free to give your ideas for additional cultural activities , your  suggestions, remarks , & commendation for making cultural activities at our school more realistic , effective and purposeful for the benefit of our children .

BLOG NO  241

Education is evolving at a faster pace than any other period in recent history. There’s a growing awareness among educators and families that today’s curriculum needs to evolve to meet tomorrow’s reality. Beyond tools and technology, students need to develop new skills to solve tough problems, collaborate effectively, and express ideas in new ways. Sensing this at our *Hasti school the *class room decoration contest project was launched way back in the year 2013-1014

In recently concluded *Educationally decorated class room contest * teachers have displayed tremendous interest in making class rooms innovative .

The basic idea of the project was to stimulate and motivate students to make innovations ( addressing their problems and difficulties) by way of  finding solution with   creative thinking  , collaboration and discussion.

The innovative projets are given to the students of the class room or to the groups on the students in the class room. They prepare the projects and the projects are displayed to make the class room more mearningful and effective learning media.

Innovation is the heartbeat of progress, and within the classroom, it takes the form of student-led projects that challenge norms and spark new ideas. Let us  delves into the power of innovation and how students become drivers of their own learning journey through creative projects.

Student-led projects are a playground of curiosity, allowing students to explore topics that pique their interest. These projects fuel a thirst for knowledge, encouraging students to ask questions, seek answers, and embark on intellectual adventures that extend beyond the confines of traditional learning.

When students lead their own projects, they take ownership of their learning experience. This empowerment ignites a sense of responsibility and accountability, motivating them to invest time and effort into producing meaningful and impactful work.

Student-led projects are fertile ground for critical thinking and collaboration. As students devise strategies, analyse information, and solve problems, they develop vital skills that extend into every facet of life. Collaborative efforts teach them the art of teamwork, communication, and leveraging diverse strengths.

By participating in classroom innovation and student-led projects, students develop an innovation mindset—an essential attribute in a rapidly changing world. They learn to embrace challenges, adapt to new situations, and approach problems with creativity and resilience.

Innovation isn’t reserved for the world of adults; it’s a cornerstone of student growth and learning. Classroom innovation and student-led projects empower young minds to unleash their potential, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration that shape them into adaptable and forward-thinking individuals

In conclusion it is  to submit that There are following characteristics of innovative class room

1.Reflection

Innovative classrooms are often inquisitive and reflective. Teachers should consider what is or is not performing to expectations both as a class and independently.

2. Constant Learning

Every event in the classroom should be viewed as a teaching opportunity, and students will benefit from variety and a change .This discipline immersion helps build student engagement and interest, driving students to achieve higher levels of success.

3. Technology

One general approach for teachers  to be inventive is to adapt along with technology. educational videos online is a modest step that teachers can take to become more inventive.

4. Self-Directed Learning

Self-directed learning allows students to concentrate on a subject that interests them. Many teachers have attempted this directive by providing students with a list of research project ideas from which to choose.

.

5. Place-Based Learning

Teachers can send their students on field trips to  planetariums or museums to encourage learning outside the classroom.

It widens his knowledge, skills, techniques, and his vision of the world. It also helps in inculcating moral and ethical values. Apart from all this, employment opportunities increase to a great extent along with the higher income prospects. There is no doubt that the development of a country depends on the quality of its educational system. Adequate investment in the educational domain will help in increasing the efficiency and productivity of the manpower. Ultimately, well-educated people help in accelerating the pace of economic development resulting in the growth of the country.                                                                                     *                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  *The Indian educational system, with its rich history and diverse culture, has been both a source of pride and concern for the nation. As the world rapidly evolves, so do the challenges faced by the education sector.  we will delve into the top challenges that the current Indian educational system grapples with, hinder its progress, and offer potential solutions to mitigate these issues. The system is grappling with several challenges that hinder its ability to provide a comprehensive and equitable education to all. In this blog, we will explore the top challenges facing the Indian educational system today.

Rote Learning vs. Critical Thinking

One of the most persistent challenges in the Indian education system is the overemphasis on rote learning. Students are often taught to memorize facts and figures rather than develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. This approach limits their ability to apply knowledge in real-life situations, stifling creativity and innovation.                                                                                                                            To address this, the curriculum must be redesigned to encourage experiential learning, hands-on activities, and open-ended discussions that foster independent thinking.                                                                                                                                                    *                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          *  The prevailing teaching methodology in India often revolves around rote learning, emphasizing memorization over critical thinking. This approach hampers the development of analytical and problem-solving skills among students. Moving away from rote learning towards more interactive and application-based learning methods is a challenge that needs to be addressed.

Pressure-Cooker Environment

In the education system in India, a student’s intelligence and performance are thought to be mostly determined by their grades. Additionally, extracurricular activities are viewed as a detour from academics                                                                                                        . This thought stems from the idea that only professionals like doctors, lawyers, engineers, and chartered accountants are good and everybody wishes their child to become one of these                                                                                                                            . The intense competition in the Indian education system has led to a pressure-cooker environment for students. From a young age, they are pushed to excel academically, often resulting in immense stress, mental health issues, and burnout.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             The system’s focus on high-stakes exams as the sole measure of success only exacerbates this problem. Schools should adopt a holistic approach to education that values personal growth, emotional well-being, and extracurricular activities, reducing the undue burden on students                                                                                                                                                                           *                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  . The excessive emphasis on examination results creates immense pressure on students from a young age. This pressure can lead to mental health issues, robs students of genuine learning experiences, and fosters a culture where the sole purpose of education becomes achieving high grades.

Outdated Curriculum

The curriculum in many  schools is often outdated and disconnected from the rapidly changing world. With the advent of the digital age, there is a pressing need to incorporate subjects like computer programming, artificial intelligence, and practical life skills into the curriculum                                                                                                                                                              . A flexible curriculum that adapts to societal changes and technological advancements is crucial to equip students with relevant skills for the future job market.                                                                                                                                                                                                       * The curriculum in many  schools and colleges often lags behind the rapid changes in technology, industry, and global trends. This disconnect between the education provided and the skills needed in the modern world leaves graduates ill-prepared to enter the workforce or contribute effectively to society.

Solution: Regularly updating and revising the curriculum to incorporate relevant and up-to-date content is crucial. Collaboration between educational institutions and industries can help identify the skills that are in demand, allowing the curriculum to be adjusted accordingly.

Lack of Quality Teachers

Quality of education is closely tied to the quality of teachers. However, India faces a shortage of well-trained and motivated educators

. Additionally, the teaching profession is not always seen as attractive due to relatively low salaries, lack of professional development opportunities, and social status.                                                                                                                                                                        *Addressing this challenge requires investing in teacher training programs, improving working conditions, and recognizing the pivotal role teachers play in shaping young minds.                                                                                                                                      The shortage of well-trained and qualified teachers is a significant challenge in the Indian educational system. Many schools, especially in rural areas, struggle to attract and retain skilled educators, leading to compromised learning experiences for students.

Solution: Improving the training and professional development opportunities for teachers is essential. Competitive salaries, better working conditions, and recognition for educators can help motivate and retain talented individuals in the teaching profession

Inequity in Access to Education

Access to quality education remains a significant challenge, with stark disparities between urban and rural areas. Remote and marginalized communities often lack proper schools, qualified teachers, and educational resources. Government initiatives such as the Right to Education Act have made progress, but a concerted effort is needed to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has equal access to education. Access to quality higher education remains a challenge for many aspiring students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Limited seats in reputable institutions, high competition, and financial barriers often stand in the way of deserving students.

Insufficient funding and improper resource allocation are significant challenges in the Indian education system. Many educational institutions struggle with inadequate infrastructure, outdated teaching materials, and limited access to technology                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      .                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Implications: These challenges have far-reaching implications for India’s future development and global competitiveness. A subpar education system affects the employability of graduates, hampers innovation, and perpetuates socio-economic inequalities. Without addressing these challenges, India risks falling behind in the increasingly knowledge-based global economy.

The challenges facing the Indian education system are complex and deeply rooted. However, they are not insurmountable                                                                                                                                                                                                                          .By acknowledging these issues and collectively working towards innovative solutions, WE CAN  transform iOUR education system into one that nurtures holistic growth, critical thinking, and inclusivity.                                                                                           *                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            At our Hasti school  we  use advanced technological tools to decide certain KPIs (KEY PEFORMANCE INDICATORS ) and metrics for determining the quality of education in all the institutions.

OUR HASTI SCHOOL STRONGLY BELIEVES THAT Regular assessments of the teaching staff  to ensure that all the teachers are well-educated and actually capable of teaching. Apart from improving the quality of education, this will HE;LP IN IMPROVING THE DELIVERY OF THE GOALS OF EDUCATION  AND will help in solving few challengees the education system facing .

SOUND BATH

BLOG NO  240

BACK DROP;

I still recollect the valuable  suggestion of our honourable Chairman sri   Kailas ‘Kantilalji Jain  when he said All children in our Hasti school to receive free access to a musical instrument so that Children will get a chance to experience the sounds of instruments and have a chance to play variety of musical  instruments we have  and we may add new unique instruments like  singing bowls, gongs, chimes, bells, etc.

Going one step ahead he said , musical instruments should  be kept in corridor and let children play and touch musical instrument of their choice during the session.

Very honestly I could not comprehend  his brilliant idea ,of what we call today a Sound bath,  but now I understand  its importance.0f  his visionary suggestion . Unfortunately, I failed to implement the same in its true sense.

I strongly recommend additional sound baths and mindfulness sessions once-off or weekly programs with sound relaxation and mindfulness for our  primary and secondary schools.

The duration of the session can be  tailored to the needs and abilities of children. *The minimum session recommended for the sound bath is 30 min, maximum time is 50 min.

Let us dive deep in to this idea of sound bath

sound bath is a full-body meditative experience where  children lie down and listen to resonant sounds .( it could be arranged for teachers as well)  It often involves singing bowls, which create an echoing sound that ‘bathes’ participants *. We refer this sound bathing as a *healing practice.

The Sound Bath sometimes also called Meditative Concert or Bath of Gong, is one of the most effective and fast forms of meditation: its strength lies in the fact that no physical or mental effort is required, you do absolutely nothing.

You receive it lying on a comfortable mat in a comfortable room, or even outdoors, usually this activity is carried out in a group, but can also be done individually or in pairs.

The goal is to reach the void in the mind, to stop the thoughts,  even for a few moments, but enough to regenerate, giving us lightness and relief.

It is called “Bath” because it is completely surrounded by the Sound, a sound that at certain times, especially during the central part of the practice where the main instrument is played, the Gong, can give the feeling of being suspended in the void, as in space, or as lightness as when you float on the sea.

The Sound and Vibration of the instruments, which were already used thousands of years ago by shamans of various populations in Rituals of Evolutionary Transformation and Sacred Ceremonials, act on our body through the law of resonance  through the movement in the air, comes on our body, physical and emotional, a real vibratory wave, which travels to “massage” and to give a “rebalancing” where needed.

You can ride the Alpha and Theta waves, until deep states of relaxation, enter visualizations and have perceptions of alteration of space and time.

There are three sound phases:

the first, introductory, that accompanies, helps to turn off the mind

the most cathartic central part,  call it the search for emptiness

the third, the return, with sounds that lead to rooting

They are all sounds that reproduce the effects of Nature, Sounds of the Elements, and some that contain the sound of the OM, as well as the sound of the creation, other instruments tuned to the special frequency 432hz

There are numerous benefits of sound and mindfulness, Arts and Crafts, Sound Relaxation, Storytelling, Games, Fun with brain science etc and these could be introduced in the curriculum skilfully.

Benefits of the sound bath session:

•           relaxes breathing

•           promotes rest and relaxation

•           lowers heartbeat

•           boosts the immune system

•           improves sleep patterns

•           restores peace and happiness

•           calms the mind

•           awakens creativity, imagination, concentration

•           empowers, increases self-esteem and self-love

•           promotes kindness and compassion towards others

•           helps to deal with feelings and difficult emotions

•           lowers stress and anxiety

•           helps to deal with grief, soothes the heart

•           teaches self-regulation tools to face difficult emotions,

•           increases self-control, patience, stillness,

•           improves focus and concentration,

•           psycho-somatic education – learning about the body, mind, and emotions,

•           improves listening skills

Objectives of  sound bath

•           To increase confidence and self-esteem, and to allow a child to express themselves more freely.

•           To improve memory and concentration, and therefore the child’s ability to learn.

•           To promote creativity.

•           To bring about feelings of calm and inner peace.

•           *To help children with learning difficulties express themselves and feel calmer

Outcomes

•           The 5 to 11 year olds will take away from the sessions tips and techniques to maintain their sense of calm and inner peace, and empower them with coping mechanisms they can use on a daily and long-term basis.

•           Due to the positive neural effects of sound and meditation, the 5 to 11 years olds may experience enhanced learning, concentration, and creativity

•           To bring about a sense of sharing and bonding within the group, which may enhance and develop friendships in general, and the class as a whole.

•           To enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of the children

•           Let us *try the sound bath sessions initially for Pre primary and primary classes once in a fortnight once in a month for our educators.

Finally Sound is everywhere, all the time. It sets the tone for our mood each day, much like a backing track to a film. This is because everything has a vibrational frequency, including ourselves. When we practice sound healing, we  use these tonal frequencies to re-balance our bodies and minds.

Sound baths are a powerful healing modality because sound travels extremely well through liquid, and the human body is made up of 60-70% water.  “the various sounds which hold healing frequencies, vibrations and energies start to move through the water within us, helping to liberate any energy which is stuck*.”

For the wellbeing of our children sound bath will play vital  role in the days to come . This would be one more step close to make  our school a *Pivoting school

Please feel free to give your suggestions, remarks , & commendation for making sound bath more realistic , effective and purposeful for the benefit of our children .

Spoken English

HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL  & JR.COLLEGE DONDAICHA

BLOG NO 238

XYZ School of Language” etc.

12 Ideas to Learn Spoken English

Enjoy the process: English

AchhiKhabar.

: Use your Television
