public school and jr.college ,Dondaicha                                                                                                                                                                *             “School is a building,  which has four walls with tomorrow inside.”

The most unlikely events can be the most pleasant surprises. Like two perfectly settled,  satisfied  & impeccably gifted experts Sri Shantialji Hastimalji Jain and Kantialji Hastimalji Jain, (the industrialist and  a Banker) ,  having a  strong ardor of setting up a school with the noble intention of providing a quality education through English medium to the rural population, particularly girls.

The school was opened with the only mission and passion to guide young and unpolluted minds to,  an honest and righteous path.

It was destined to be superlative since profit was never a motive but passion was. Mr.Kailas Kantialji jain an accomplished professional, had been nurturing a dream of a school where kids could just be kids and not rote machines, creativity is nurtured and not killed, no boundaries for learning and trying new ideas and kids breathe in a free-flowing, energized environment.  It is a school of 21 century where everyone is inspired to learn and come there because they love it and not because they have to. That, in brief, is the genesis of The Hasti public school and Jr.college  that took its first baby step in 2002, safe and secure from day one; bubbling with energy, wonderful workable ideas, and grit to make it through.now it has metamorphosed in to a group of Hasti school  which includes

In school, teachers try to remove the evils from the students by showing some seeds of good qualities in them through variety of  co-curricular activities , extra-curricular activities and healthy   competitions ,debates and projects etc.

Library is our  growth center with more than 27000 books on variety of subjects in English, Marathi and Hindi .Students have freedom to browse the books and get the desired book issued which they have to return within stipulated period with their review in writing.  Reading gives proper scope to improve their knowledge and style. In the formative and summative examinations, they  give their brilliant performance. Thus they get the opportunity to expand their knowledge . The school has definitely a healthy influence on students. But some students indulge in bad company and get away from the impact of their teachers. Those students miss the charm of their school life.

Shantilalji Hastimalji Jain & Respected Kantilalji Hastimalji Jain, whose prophetic words and thoughts always guide us,   .with the best wishes of  the Board of Directors & ,our well-wishers we are sure of our advancement & transformation to become a preeminent educational institution.

OUT OF BOX  LEARNING

Our Hasti school is known in the academic world for its excellent overall performance in the academics & sports but our school firmly believes that Beyond just teaching academics, we should make sincere attempts to  foster students’ development in their relationships, identity, emotional skills, and overall well-being.

We adopt competency based education wherein instead of focusing on grades and yearly curriculum schedules, the main focus is placed on how competent each student is . Currently, our education system often focuses on a narrow sliver of children’s cognitive development with an emphasis on transmitting content knowledge, often to be memorized and repeated in the same form it was received . Lessons in math, science, and reading—and tests in those skills—dominate the curriculum.

While those subjects are fundamental, learning involves far more than merely acquiring inert knowledge in academic subjects namely  Maths /science /evs etc.. Such a narrow focus gives short shrift to the ways that children need to grow and learn some more to become competent &  confident in their relationships, identity, emotional understanding, and overall well-being.

School has made a  plan to   keep every child well informed about the  glossary /basics and conceptual  knowledge  of  in the area of sports / offices /different sectors like Banking , agriculture,Ranks and awards in army & police, judiciary , career guidance etc. With this essential  out of box   additional information to confront future  endeavors  School has grade wise syllabus of such subject as under

MODE OF THINKING AND HOW IT IMPACTS OUR PERFORMANCE

NO.47

HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL AND  JR.COLLEGE.                                                                  MODE OF THINKING AND HOW IT IMPACTS OUR PERFORMANCE   *

The activities of the mind are related to patterns of brain activity. Different mental activities, such as reading a book, painting a picture, or talking to a loved one, each involve different patterns of interaction between networks of nerve cells in the brain The networks involved in one activity are often different from those involved in another activity.

Networks can also be linked together in different patterns. If we looked into the brain, we would see shifting patterns in the activity of networks and in their connections with each other as the mind moves from one task to another. For a while, one pattern predominates, then a shift occurs, so brain networks that previously interacted in one pattern now do so in a different configuration.

Limited number of core patterns of brain activity and interaction seem to crop up as recurring features in a wide variety of different mental activities. These core patterns reflect some basic “modes of mind  namely THINKING MODE  & DOING MODE

For maximum period of time  I am in thinking  mode  than in doing mode

I spend a lot of time dreaming about things — incredible adventures I want to go on, self-improvement projects, all those books I plan on reading  And I THINK  there’s nothing wrong with that. Dreaming is wonderful.

What I’ve noticed, though, is that sometimes *I get stuck in the thinking and dreaming mode , and don’t actually take action.

When I realize this, it’s good for me to make this distinction: am I in the mode of thinking about it, or actually doing it? Both are fine! But at some point, it helps to make the switch: from thinking about it … to Doing.

This is the point where we make a commitment.

We can think of these modes of mind as loosely *analogous to the gears of a car*. Just as each gear has a particular use (starting, accelerating, cruising, etc.), so each mode of mind has its own particular characteristics and functions .

Over the course of a day, as the mind switches from one kind of activity to another, the underlying mode of mind changes—a little like the way that a car, driven through a busy city, there will be a continuous series of changes from one gear to another . And in much the same way *a car can only be in one gear at a time, when the mind is in certain modes, it will not be in other modes at the same time.

Our continued dwelling on how we are not as we would like to be just makes us feel worse, taking us even further from our desired goal. This, in turn only serves to confirm our view that we are not the kind of person we feel we need to be in order to be happy.

Here are four suggestions on how to take charge  from thinking mode to doing mode that is how to shift modes:

1.         Check up on your mode of thinking frequently. The great personal development trainer and speaker Zig Ziglar used to recommend “a checkup from the neck up.” The most important dialogue you’ll have today is with yourself. As you drive home from work, ask yourself: What mode of thinking have I been operating in today ? In recent days? What’s my self-talk been and why

2.         Take action on an idea. Take a look at your “things to do” list. Pick one out and make it happen! Action calms fear, cures inertia, and can alter a negative mindset The satisfaction of accomplishing even a little task or eliminating an irritant, can lead to further action, feeding on itself in a virtuous cycle . There’s nothing more fun than striking through a task on the proverbial “to do” list and here’s why: it shifts your mental mode from Defeatist/Sustainer to Dreamer/Opportunity.

3.         Count to ten and win. To shift out of Defeatist Mode, literally count your blessings. List all the things in your life you have going for you: your friends, job, faith in a higher power, etc. After you’ve proven to yourself that you can do this, consider how you might help others jumpstart their thinking and shift into performance enhancing modes.

4.         Let your Dreamer Mode come out to play. One of my favorite techniques is called WIBGI, which stands for “ wouldn’t it be great if… ?” To help yourself or your colleagues shift to a more visionary state of mind, invite people to weigh in with statements starting with: “wouldn’t it be great if” and vocalize whatever comes to mind.

It’s very easy to fall into one of the less productive thinking modes without even being aware of it . It’s an inescapable part of human existence to sometimes operate from the Defeatist or Sustainer Modes .

The “Doing” Mode

The ruminative state of mind is actually a variant of a much more general mode of mind that has been called the “doing” mode. The job of this mode of mind is to get things done —to achieve particular goals that the mind has set. These goals could relate to the external world—to make a meal, build a house, or travel to the moon—or to the internal world of self—to feel happy,  not make mistakes, never be depressed again , or be a good person . The basic strategy to achieve such goals involves something we call the “discrepancy monitor * a process that continually monitors and evaluates our current situation against a model or standard—an idea of what is desired, required, expected, or feared.

Once this discrepancy monitor is switched on, it will find mismatches between how things are and how we think they should be .

But, crucially, dwelling on how things are not as we want them to be can, naturally enough, create further negative mood.

In this way, our attempts to solve a “problem” by endlessly thinking about it can keep us locked into the state of mind from which we are doing our best to escape.

How the Discrepancy Monitor Works:

1) First we create an idea of how we want things to be, or how we think they should be.

2) Next, we compare that with our idea of how things are right now.

3) If there is a difference between how things are and how we want them to be, then we generate thoughts and actions to try to close the gap.

4) We monitor progress to see whether the gap is increasing or decreasing, and adjust our actions accordingly.

5) We know we have reached our goal when our idea of how WE WANT THEM TO BE

IMPORTANCE OF STORIES & STORYTELLING IN THE CHILD DEVELOPMET OF CHILD

IMPORTANCE OF STORIES & STORYTELLING IN THE CHILD DEVELOPMET OF CHILD

If you want your children to be smart, tell them stories. If you want them to be brilliant, tell them more stories.- Albert Einstein

Subscribing to the above Our Hasti Public School adapted storytelling as a very effective tool of lerning  and developed special skill in this skill.

In Hasti Group of schools *improving basic literacy levels is a priority hence  storytelling is used  to quickly raise standards while developing skills, knowledge and confidence in a range of other areas. children grow in academic learning. Story telling introduces  and helps in building lot of new vocabulary. It is easy to teach the meanings of the words as kids learn faster from the context of story.

Storytelling is the most powerful way to put ideas into the world today. — Robert McKee

It is the oldest form of teaching. It bonded the early human communities, giving children the answers to the biggest questions of creation, life, and the afterlife.

Stories define us, shape us, control us, and make us.  every human culture in the world may not be  literate, but every single culture tells stories .

Stories play a vital role in the growth and development of children. The books they read and the characters they get to know can become like friends. It’s also good for children to understand that books are a useful source of information and that good reading skills are important for success in their future lives. Reading also helps children with their confidence levels, coping with feelings and language and learning.

Stories help to develop a child’s imagination by introducing new ideas into their world – ideas about fantastical worlds, other planets, different points in time and invented characters. It’ll encourage the children to realize that they can, and should, imagine anything they want.

Confidence Levels Children who can read well are more likely to have higher confidence levels. This will benefit them in school as they’ll feel able to participate fully in activities. Another part of building confidence and self-esteem is knowing where you fit into the world. Stories can help with this process by showing children what people’s lives are like where they live and in other parts of the world.

Language and Learning Stories are a great way to introduce new words and ideas into a child’s language –Stories can help children learn about concepts such as shape, size, space and colour, up and down, inside and outside, numbers and the names of objects.

Stories are also useful for teaching more complex ideas, such as the importance of sharing, the passage of time, compassion for others. They can be useful when trying to explain traumatic events, such as family break-ups and bereavement.

Fiction based on real-life can also help children with their own life experience – it shows them how diverse the world is and that some people’s lives are vastly different to theirs.

And what’s so great about learning through stories is that the process is done in a natural way. There’s no actual teaching involved at all, they learn from simply reading the story.

Relaxation

Reading stories can be helpful for relaxation, before bedtime for example. They allow children to forget the stresses and strains of the day and indulge in fantasy for a while. The soothing familiarity of a much-loved story, the rhyming and repetition in a picture book, plus the sense of security that time spent reading together can foster, all help the child to relax.

Development of Imagination

Stories help to develop a child’s imagination by introducing new ideas into their world – ideas about fantastical worlds, other planets, different points in time and invented characters. It’ll encourage the children to realise that they can, and should, imagine anything they want.

Coping With Feelings

When children read stories that contain feelings it can help them understand and accept their own feelings. It helps them understand that there are other children who feel the same way and they are not alone. This helps the child understand that feelings are normal and should be expressed. As you can see, children’s stories are important for a number of reasons and form a vital part of the growing process. Being part of that process can bring writers a sense of satisfaction as well as being great fun.

Hasti school gives due importance to storytelling ,story writing and composing story form few introductory words.

Hasti School has created a whats app group by name  *Hasti Story Bank * where any one can deposit a story with take away message. These stories are real  treasure of  wisdom, ethics  and values . A part of story is told in the class room and children are asked  to complete the story. It gives scope to their  imagination ,vocabulary learning and expression of feelings.

A teacher shows three toys to a student and asks the student to find out the differences.

All the three toys seemed to be identical in their shape, size and material.

After keen observation, the student observes holes in the toys.

First toy has holes in the ears. Second toy has holes in ear and mouth. Third toy has only one hole in one ear.

Then with the help of a needle, the student puts the needle in the ear hole of the first toy.

The needle comes out from the other ear.

In the second toy, when the needle was put in the ear, the needle came out of mouth.

And in the third toy, when the needle was put in, the needle did not come out.

1. *First toy represents those people around you who give an impression that they are listening to all your things and care for you.

But they just pretend to do so*. After listening, as the needle comes out from the next ear, the things you said to them by counting on them are gone.

So be careful while you are speaking to this type of people around you, who does not care for you.

2. *Second toy represents those people who listen to you, all your things and give an impression that they care for you.

But as in the toy, the needle comes out from mouth.

These people will use your things and the words you tell them against you by telling it to others and bringing out the confidential issues for their own purpose.

3. Third toy, the needle does not come out from it.

These kinds of people will keep the trust you have in them. They are the ones who you can count on.

Always stay in a company of people who are loyal and trustworthy.

People, who listen to what you tell them, are not always the ones you can count on when you need them the most. ——————————————————————————————————————————————-

Wisdom and ethics through education

BLOG NO.61

*Hasti public school and jr.college Dondaicha

Wisdom and ethics through education

Academic excellence with character and personality development is our ultimate goal, says Mr.Kailas.Kantilal Jain Chairman of  Hasti Public school & Jr.college, Dondaicha  Along with imparting quality education, what are the core values inculcated in students of Hasti school  to make them ready for challenges ahead?

When most people think about a school curriculum, they think about math, science, social studies, and language courses. Seldom do we hear or read about moral values being part of educational curricula in the modern world.

This creates a unique problem. Neglecting to teach moral values alongside academic concepts in schools is hurting our students and causing problems in society.

The goal of incorporating moral values into education is to ensure that, upon graduation, students not only have the knowledge and skills needed to work and succeed, but also the compassion and emotional wherewithal to be a part of a safe, peaceful, and cooperative society.

Why Teach Moral Values in  our Hasti public school ?

1. To Prepare Our Children for Their Future Roles in Society

The acquisition of knowledge in school is only one goal of education. Another primary goal of education should be enabling students to gain moral values.

2. Because Many Parents don’t find time for Teaching Moral Values

If all parents were teaching their children moral values at home, it would not be necessary for the schools to do this work. The sad fact is that a lot of kids are not learning the difference between right and wrong at home.

3. To Provide an Alternative to the Violence and  Dishonesty Students See Around Them

Every day, students are exposed to violence, dishonesty, and other social problems in the media and the real world. If moral values were taught in schools, perhaps we would have fewer of these problems.

4. To Counter the Bad Influences in Society

Unfortunately, many of the role models young people look up to set bad examples.

5. Because These Values Will Stick With Them for Life

7 Important Moral Values  we try  to make  Students Learn at our  Hasti Public school

1. Unconditional Love and Kindness

In most cases, if you love someone, they will love you back. This, however, is not the real meaning of love. Love should be unconditional.

2. Honesty there is Honesty box kept in school and accessible to students प्रामाणिक पेटी

Students must be taught that dishonesty and cheating are wrong and will get them nowhere in the future. As a student, one is only hurting oneself by cheating.

3. Hard Work

When I was young, I learned that success was 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration. Nowadays, many students want to cheat and cut corners in their studies because they are lazy and don’t place any value on hard work.

4. Respect for Others

Unfortunately, in our highly competitive, dog-eat-dog society, many people tread on others to get ahead in life. Respect for others should include respecting different religions, races, sexes, ideas, and lifestyles.

5. Cooperation

To achieve a common goal, all people must work together. If this is not done, a few people may profit, but everyone else will suffer.

6. Compassion

Compassion is defined as being sensitive to the needs of other people. If there were more compassion in the world, there would be far less hunger, conflict, homelessness,

7. Forgiveness a conscious, deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or vengeance toward a person or group who has harmed you, regardless of whether they actually deserve your forgiveness. … Forgiveness does not mean forgetting, nor does it mean condoning or excusing offenses.

Core Values are an integral part of school curriculum. We,  go beyond the confines of the narrow learning process and aim for the essential learning outcomes for professional success. The school has developed and integrated various programmes into its curriculum to nurture skills like creative thinking, social responsibility, leadership and communication among students.

For inculcating such skills, we have full-time counseling facility, career guidance tests, workshops and seminars on social media uses, stress management, problem-solving etc.

At Hasti public school technology is being used in every aspect of education. We have a comprehensive infrastructure for learning that enables us to move beyond the traditional models of teaching-learning processes. A co-educational system with well-qualified, experienced and vibrant faculty makes learning a joy for children of all ages. Other than that, the school has low student-teacher ratio and a plethora of curricular and co-curricular activities to provide a conducive atmosphere to instill a passion for learning among students.

Our initiative that establishes a state of the art experiential learning lab in the school premises, along with grade-specific experiential learning programmes for Nursery to class VIII.

The use of S.T.E.M approach and activity kits , curiosity activity kits make children comprehend the concept by ABL

Being a part of Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), how the school fosters curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds along with inculcating required skills?

Hasti School is  dedicated to give the best possible start to the kids for school life. Our mission is to provide a rich environment, allowing children to explore the world around them with limitless learning opportunities.

Vision: THE PEDAGOGY – Pedagogy is the science of educating or more precisely guiding a child. We, at our Hasti school , believe that the true purpose of education is to stimulate the creativity within the student’s mind and body, give them wings, allow them to think freely, to inculcate inquisitiveness, and encourage Innovational skills.

The key components which fairly and accurately represent the environment of Hasti School are Respect for the child, carefully planned environment and auto-education. Our Hasti schools stimulate the child’s development in all areas: physical, intellectual, social, emotional and aesthetic. One of the advantages of the schools  is that the teachers through various activities inculcate skills among the students. Each Hasti School is  designed keeping in mind aspects like locality and culture.

Leadership development

The goal of inspiring student leaders is to create a culture of ownership, collaboration and community in the classroom. •           Let them serve or mentor other students.

•           Give them specific responsibilities to make a difference in the classroom. Think in terms of leadership roles that allow them to help others, make a contribution, and feel a sense of purpose.

Hasti Public school believes that “Every child can be a leader ”. What is needed is to only unlock the leadership potential in your students?

Students are challenged on all levels and are required to work cooperatively to achieve set goals, respect themselves and others, inspire and motivate their peers and promote a culture of school pride and belonging. It is not enough for a student to decide that they want to be a leader. The making of a good leader is not something that is inherited. Students have to work compulsively on their leadership skills.

Here at Hasti school what we do is to boost a student’s ability to work as part of a team. We convince children that It is great to be a creative and full of initiative. But what is more important is to be able to see the strengths and weaknesses of each team member & Moreover, it is important to make the strengths work for the whole team.

Teacher here at Hasti public school works to cultivate student leadership in the  classroom and among fellow teachers. In the classroom, teachers foster student leadership qualities through a process called Project-Based Learning or PBL.  Project-Based Learning is a teaching process in which students learn through hands-on work on a project that addresses a complex question or challenge over a period of time.

PBL and other student-led initiatives shape minds in unique ways Project-Based Learning and student leadership building, when done well, add meaning and relevance. They start students on a path to success and give them opportunities for leadership while in school, so they can speak the language of negotiation cooperation, esprit-de-corps and teamwork.

Teachers here work  hard to motivate students to lead in their classrooms. How that looks can vary by class type and age, but the end goal is inspiring confident individuals ready to take on challenges using real-world skills.

Teachers, are  sensitive to the inclusion of everyone in class conversations. Other times, teachers  include a back-channel chat so students can participate via message as well as verbally. There are many meaningful ways to encourage conversation, but the best ways are not gimmicks are tricks. It is simply using a student’s name and asking him or her to join the conversation.

Student leadership qualities look different student-to-student. It’s important that all students, regardless of personality traits or learning types, get the opportunity to grow their leadership qualities in their learning environment. Everyone has influence. Each person can lead in their own way. In many schools, most leadership positions are by election or appointment. Students who aren’t interested in clubs or extracurricular activities.in contrast to this we at Hasti school call resume from all students the Bio data or resume is studied and the *eligible and willing students are interviewed by way of PI and GD by the committee of experts from outside the school  Teamwork is an essential part of real-world success. Therefore, it is a  part of a real-world classroom environment. We explore each student’s leadership ability and help them  to improve and develop it.*We at our school insist and make children learn  to

Know their strengths*

At Our HAST School we insist upon to make them  Follow their  passions; explore what they  love; capitalize on what they can already do well. We did  run  student Parliament . We  organize different Co-scholastic  activities like elocution , brain storming & STORM  *Service to Others really Matters.

We insist on  making them learn :-

Work well with others

Good managers have strong interpersonal skills . We develop  their ability to  listen to other people, ask questions, establish trust*and create a *sense of teamwork.

Be optimistic

at our Hasti School  we train them to  Maintain focus and a positive attitude, especially in the face of difficulty. Grace under pressure is a key leadership trait. We tell them that If your team has just lost a crucial game, don’t throw in the towel; encourage your teammates to practice even harder for the next one.

At our Hasti school we make them understand that Actions are more important than titles.

Even if you aren’t the captain of the team, you could be its leading scorer.

Gratitude

BLOG NO.59                                                                                                                                                                                   *

*HASTI PUBLIC  SCHOOL & JR.COLLEGE *

Gratitude means thanks and appreciation. …

once I was running through a magazine, a sentence from one of the articles made me think. It was an article on positivity in life. That was the sentence in the original English article; “Sometimes, try calculating your gratitude index in life, you will realize how lucky you are!”. (Try measuring the gratitude index in your life at some point and you will realize how lucky you are!).

I liked the idea of an ‘index of gratitude’. Just as the stock market has stock indexes or trading indices and their value determines the health of the market, it also came to my mind that this gratitude index, which measures the fluctuations of gratitude, can determine the health of our mindset. I immediately started thinking about how to measure gratitude in my life. How to determine the gratitude index ? And how to bring it into daily life ?. After thinking about it, I came up with some ideas;

1. Grateful for my natural resources

That is to say, to have a strong body, to have strong organs, to have a sensitive mind, to be grateful. I noticed that we assume that having a strong body, having functional organs, but the value of efficient eyes is known to the blind, the value of strong limbs to the disabled. The value of a sensitive thinking mind can be seen in the condition of a psychiatrist. And once this point is realized, gratitude for a healthy, wholesome body will automatically come to mind.

2. Grateful for the relationships I have:

Gratitude for the extended family we have benefited from mother, father, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, cousin. These grandchildren are easy to get when they are born so often there is no price for you. We get rude for small reasons. But the value of these relationships will be seen in the children growing up in the orphanage. The pain in their eyes for a touch of Maya shows how lucky it is to have parents to greet God when they wake up in the morning. It is important to have siblings to play with, to play with, to grow up together, to have huts, to pamper, to be consciously grateful to have uncles, aunts, cousins.

3. Grateful for the resources I have received:

That is, to have a house to live in, to have comfort in the house, to have a bed to sleep in, to have a blanket to cover, to have clothes to wear, to get textbooks to study, to get an education in a good school, to have tasty food. Isn’t it one thing to have a prestigious source of income to meet your basic needs? . I get irritated if the tea is a little cold. But when the forest dwellers go to the pada, they realize what the struggle for survival is all about. What’s the cost of a two-course meal? Leave warm clothes to protect yourself from the cold wind, but how much does it cost to have minimal clothes? If I have got all these things easily, why shouldn’t I be grateful for it?

4. Gratitude for the other people in my life:

Isn’t it important to be consciously grateful to the teachers, mentors, neighbors, your family doctor, the driver, the working aunt, the garbage collector, the building watchman, and many others?

I started thinking and the list went on and on. From this, I realized that the gratitude index of the day was determined by the gratitude that would be created in my mind every day for everything, person, situation that has made my life comfortable, smooth and comfortable.

This gratitude index not only keeps me awake every day but also tries to keep growing. I have come up with a solution. I have practiced the practice of saying “thank you”  whenever possible to the person who comes in contact with me. Everyone from the morning milkmaid to the woman who picks up the household waste every day gets into the habit of saying “thank you” when they come in front of them. Wherever you go and if you take a rickshaw, when you get off and pay, the rickshaw puller makes a conscious effort to pat you on the shoulder and say “thank you”. I try to take out the gratitude index of that day every night before going to bed, keeping a record of how many such people I have said “thank you” for during the day. Like any other index, this daily figure is more or less true.

After all this hard work, I realized that the people I thank may feel good, but from my point of view, my mind is filled with an anonymous satisfaction. Feet live on the ground, people are cared for and most importantly, every time I thank God for the heart of this person …

*That is why I must give at least twenty-four minutes out of the twenty-four hours of the day to say thank you to the GOD  who gave me this life, gave me breath to live, food for my stomach. The remembrance of God’s name is the gratitude expressed towards him!

Gratitude, which rhymes with “attitude,” comes from the Latin word gratus, which means “thankful, pleasing.” When you feel gratitude, you’re pleased by what someone did for you and also pleased by the results.

Gratitude is a selfless act. Its acts are done unconditionally, to show to people that they are appreciated. “A gift that is freely given” is one way to understand what these acts are like.

For example, if someone is sad and you write them a note of appreciation, you are likely not asking for something in return for this person; instead, you are reminding them of their value, and expressing gratitude for their existence. At the moment, you are not waiting for a “return note” from this person.

Even when we do not expect a return, sometimes they happen. Gratitude can be contagious, in a good way. In the previous example, maybe when you are down, this person will write you a note too.

“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.”

use of the mnemonic in learning

BLOG No.56                                                                                                                                                                                                                We at our school tell children to use the mnemonic to remember  the difficult spellings  we ask children to prepare acronyms to remember the important points

A mnemonic is any learning technique that aids information retention or retrieval (remembering) in the human memory.

The advantages of mnemonics are two-fold. First, they help students encode information in long-term memory. And, second, and which is even more important, mnemonics help students retrieve information from long-term memory.

Many people use mnemonic techniques to help them improve their memory. These techniques can help them remember how to spell difficult words, recall a new colleague’s name and memorize information.

Mnemonics are memory devices that help learners recall larger pieces of information, especially in the form of lists like characteristics, steps, stages, parts, phases, etc. We knew back in 1967 from a study by Gerald R. Miller that mnemonics increased recall. He found that students who regularly used mnemonic devices increased test scores up to 77%!

Many types of mnemonics exist and which type works best is limited only by the imagination of each individual learner. The 9 basic types of mnemonics   are Music, Name, Expression /Word*  ,  *Model, Ode/Rhyme, Note Organization, Image, Connection, and Spelling

Music Mnemonics  How many lyrics to songs do you remember? How did you come to remember them? The same method you used to recall song lyrics also can work just as well in academics. Music can used to help students recall important details to main ideas and many learners have made songs out of information when a list of items must be learned. Advertising on radio and TV uses music to help potential customers remember their products when shopping. With sufficient repetition of commercials, advertisers have discovered that when shoppers see their product in the stores that often the shopper will start reciting a oft repeated phrases from the commercial or start singing the lyrics to the promotion melody. The results has been increased sales of the product.

You can make a song or jingle using any type of music you choose for any list of items. Music Mnemonics work best with long lists. For example, some children learn the ABC’s by singing the “ABC” song. Other children learn all the states in alphabetical order using the song or Doha playing around on whttsapp

1.         Name Mnemonics

In a Name Mnemonic, the 1st letter of each word in a list of items is used to make a name of a person or thing. Sometimes, the items can be rearranged to form a more recollectable name mnemonic. Examples:

ROY G. BIV = colors of the spectrum (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet.)

Pvt. Tim Hall = Essential amino acids  (Phenylanine, Valine, Threonine, Tryptophan, Isolucine, Histidine, Arginine, Leucine, Lysine.

2.         Expression or Word Mnemonic

This is by far the most popularly used mnemonic. To make an Expression or Word mnemonic, the first letter of each item in a list is arranged to form a phrase or word. Examples:

For physical laws dealing with gasses, try these:

Charles’ Law: For a constant volume, pressure is directly proportional to temperature.

The simple way to remember Chuck is if the tank’s too hot, you’re blown into muck.

Henry’s Law: The solubility of a gas increases with pressure.

To remember good old Hank, remember the bubbles in the shaken Coke you drank.

Boyles’ Law: At constant temperature, pressure is inversely proportional to volume.

Boyle’s law is best of all because it presses gasses awfully small.

In English, the 7 coordinating conjunctions are For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So = FANBOYS.

The order of operations for math*is Parentheses, Exponents, Multiply, Divide, Add, and Subtract = *Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally.

The categories in the classification of life are Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species, Variety = Kings Play Cards On Fairly Good Soft Velvet.

For those who have to remember the order of color coding on electronic resistors: Black, Blue, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Brown, Violet, Gray, White, Silver, Gold.

Bad Boys Rile Our Young Girls,But Violet Gives Welts (to) Silly Guys

or

Bad Beer Rots Our Young Guts But Vodka Goes Well (in) Silver Goblets.

Almost every anatomy class has to remember the eight small bones in the wrist: Navicular, Lunate, Triquetrum, Pisiform, Multongular (Greater), Multongular (Lesser), Capitate, Hamate.

Never Lick Tilly’s Popsicle, Mother Might Come Home.

Create an Expression Mnemonic for remembering the order of the planets from the sun outward: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto*.

NEW TECHNIQUE AND CLASS ROOM GAMES

BLOG NO.55                                                                                                                                                                                                 *HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL & JR.COLLEGE,DONAICHA

TO MAKE CHILDREN LEARN INSTEAD OF TECHING THEM

It’s a  matter of common observation that in one classroom you see  students hunched over, not engaged, even frowning . The teacher looks frazzled, tired and wishing he or she were somewhere else . While in the  second classroom,  you see a room full of lively students, eager, engaged and *participating. The teacher is *ull of energy and smiling. This happens no matter what day you look through that door.

What is the second teacher doing that the first one isn’t? He or she is using creativity in that classroom. Creativity makes a huge difference. Creativity is vital for a classroom to be successful. There is a common misconception that the word “creative” has to do mostly with the arts. But being artistic is only a small part of creativity.

Creativity is innovation.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. If something isn’t working, then it’s broken and needs to be fixed. Come up with something else that will work for your students.

Creativity is thinking outside the box.

Everything doesn’t always have to be black and white. Sometimes the oddball activities are the ones that work.

Creativity is improvisation.

Things don’t always turn out the way you planned. When I’ve realized that a lesson wasn’t working midway through, I literally tossed it out and started over. I tried a different angle (in this case, incorporating a movie that my students liked), and it worked.

Creativity is professional growth.

We don’t always have all of the answers. If you can’t figure out what to do, use your coworkers as resources. You might find some really great ideas that make sense for your students. Also, look at research and see what has worked for other teachers around the world. Use resources like KS2, hubbardscupboard.org, and starfall.com for some fun engaging activities.

Creativity is being a risk taker or mold breaker.

I have had many crazy ideas for things to try in the classroom. Some have worked and some haven’t, but I found that trying was better than being stuck in the same pattern that isn’t working.

Creativity is passion.

Be passionate about what you are doing. You are there to inspire students to become lifelong learners. If you want them to love learning, you have to love what you are teaching

Suggested Activities: The Game of Learning

For the first six activities, seat your students in a circle and introduce a ball or something else they can pass easily between them.

1. ” I know a word “

You can begin this skills game by saying, “I know a word that starts with the same sound you hear at the beginning of butterfly.” Students will raise their hands, and you choose one to tell you a word the starts with “B.” Once they tell you the word, toss them the ball. They choose someone else to tell them another word that begins with that letter, passing the ball to the student who gets it right. As the game continues, change the letter every so often. Play until everyone has had a turn. You can use this game for beginning sounds, ending sounds, middle sounds etc.

2. Rhyme time

Say, “I need a word that rhymes with cat.” Pass the ball to someone once they give you a correct rhyming word. Keep changing the starting word and continue the game until all kids have gone.

3. Practice counting

You can have your class practice counting by twos, fives and tens. Pass the ball clockwise or counterclockwise, with the student who receives it saying the number that comes next. For example, you say, “We are going to count by fives. Five!” The person next to you says “ten,” the next one says “fifteen,” and so on.

4. Spelling review

For older kids, you can pass the ball and go through your spelling words one letter at a time. For example, you say, “We’re going to spell the word their, as in ‘This is their ball.'” The first person says “T,” the second person says “H,” the third person says “E,” and so on. If one says the wrong letter, the next person says correct letter and fixes the mistake.

5. ” I need a synonym “

This is a great vocabulary building exercise. You can use the ball or a pair of flyswatters, depending on the age of your students. You say, “I need a synonym for mad.” Choose someone to give you another word that means the same thing, such as angry, furious and enraged. For older kids, you can put a list of synonyms on the board and divide the class into two teams. Have one person from each team come up and compete. Whoever slaps the board with the flyswatter and says the correct synonym wins a point for their team. In the end all of your students win a better vocabulary.

6. Reinforce other skills

What other subjects are you teaching? You could adapt these games to fit pretty much anything. “I need a name of an explorer.” “I need you to name one of the phases of matter.” “I need to know one of the reasons for the Civil War.” Be creative!

7. Roll dice to have your students answer story questions.

“What is the plot of the story?” you might ask them. “What is the setting?” You can introduce more reflective questions such as, “Why did this character do what he or she did?” and “What was the author’s purpose?” You can write these questions on cards or purchase them from reallygoodstuff.com.

8. Sight Word Slap Game

Write your sight words on the board. Separate your class into two random teams. Let one person from each team step forward and hold a fly swatter. Call out one of the sight words. The first one to slap the correct sight word gets a point for their team. Continue until everyone has gone. This is great for helping sight word recognition.

Suggested Activities: The Artsy Side of Creative

9. Use different voices or accents when reading stories to the class.

10. Dress in costumes of storybook characters to leave a lasting impression, or let students dress up as characters to retell stories.

11. Turn your room into the environment of what you are learning about. When the class is learning about fairy tales, turn your classroom into a castle. When you’re learning about animals, turn your classroom into a jungle.

12. *Create class songs * about topics they need to know, or use the music of singers like Hap Palmer and Jack Hartman. You might also borrow songs and games from coworkers. Songs are catchy, and children learn quickly from them.

Creative Science

13. When teaching about the properties of friction use KS2 for interactive projects you can do in small groups or as a class using a smart board. You might ask your students slide down the hallway first in their socks, then barefoot, and have them journal about the different amounts of friction.

14. When teaching phases of matter, drop some food coloring into beakers of cold and warm water and note the difference. Then pour the contents of one beaker in a bag and put it in the freezer. The next day, compare the liquid bag with the solid chunk of ice and note differences.

15. Use the ice from the above activity and talk about gravity. Stand on a chair and discuss what will happen if you drop the ice, and if it matters which way you drop it. Let your students predict the possible outcomes.
