WHAT IS CHAT GPT IN EDUCATION

The entire world is buzzing about ChatGPT, and if you do not know anything about it then you are definitely living under the blanket. So what exactly is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT stands for Generative Pre-Trained Transformer.

ChatGPT is an AI powered chatbot developed by a research company OpenAI, founded in San Francisco in 2015 by Sam Altman, Elon Musk,

Chat GPT has been the talk of the town for the last few weeks. Especially academicians are the ones who are much concerned about the impact of this AI tool.                                                                                                                                                            Will this model be good for the education system? Or would it prove to be the most devastating attack on the thinking as well as the decision-making skills of our students?

While thinking about this subject,  thoughts went to the days when the calculation machine – the calculator was invented. Those days, teachers and parents were much concerned about the ability of kids to remember mathematics tables. For that generation of students, it was a matter of pride to be able to orate number tables from 1 to 20. With the invention of calculators, the need for memorizing tables diminished. Examiners changed how they accessed their students’ intelligence and learning ability. The concerns caused by the launch of calculators subsided, over time.

Then came the disruption called Google Search and the era of the internet. This revolution was scarier than that of the calculator. It was worried that this search engine would significantly dent students’ reading and learning habits for some duration, and that happened too.                                                                                                                                                                          Book sales were reduced, and bookstores worldwide shut down in big numbers. However, with the internet revolution spreading like fire, society evolved into innovative reading solutions like smartphones, kindle etc.

Back then, one prominent concern was that students might develop inertia for learning. They would copy and paste content extracted from the search engine. To diffuse this effect, contemporary academicians evolved advanced methods of student learning evaluation. They stopped asking students to write essays and started giving them reading comprehension passages. They are no more asked to write an essay on some topic but to read a written passage and answer questions pulled out from that.                                                                                                                                                                                                     Now comes the era of Chat GPT. For those unaware of Chat GPT, let me tell you that this is an ‘Artificial Intelligence’-based tool and is capable of generating human-like responses. Chat GPT can be used for answering complex questions. In short, while Google Search is focused on helping users find information on the web, Chat GPT provides users with well researched and articulated human-like responses to their text-based queries                                                                                                            . Academicians are afraid this invention could be the beginning of the end of human thinking skills! Various universities in India and abroad have already banned Chat GPT on their campuses.

The impact this tool can have on our education system.

1. Students can get personalized & real-time tutoring which can make them understand complex concepts better and improve their grades.

2. Teachers can use Chat GPT to generate teaching learning content, such as lesson plans and assignments, based on specific learning objectives. This shall result in less workload for teachers and create spare time for them to interact more with their students.

3. If students become overly reliant on Chat GPT, their independent critical thinking and problem-solving skills may deteriorate. Over time, students may lose the ability to think outside the box and generate original ideas.

4. Since human emotions do not play any role in working Chat GPT, complex problems involving human beings might get dis-compassionate solutions. Thus eroding empathy and disturbing human relations.

5. Not everything which Chat GPT answers would be authentic. This may result in students accepting inaccurate outputs as a basis for making decisions. This could have negative consequences for their education and future careers.

6. Student data fed into the system can render vulnerability, and there could be a severe security risk.

7. If students rely excessively on Chat GPT for answers and solutions, they may become less motivated to learn independently, thus diluting human intelligence over generations.

8. Academic institutions will have to evolve compatible methods to evaluate students learning gaps and future potentials.

In conclusion, the impact of Chat GPT on the future of education remains a disturbing concern. Especially the thinking skills would be the early victim. At this stage, it may not be feasible to predict exact future complications. However, one thing is sure Chat GPT is not the end of such disrupting technological inventions! Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), Explainable AI (XAI), Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), Transfer Learning etc., are even much more advanced technologies likely to hit us very soon.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is the latest educational institution to officially ban the use of ChatGPT.

ChatGPT is a language model developed by OpenAI, one of the leading companies in artificial intelligence research. The model is based on a neural network architecture called a transformer, which allows it to generate human-like responses to natural language inputs.

According to the latest instructions issued by the board ahead of the examinations, “Mobile, ChatGPT and other electronic items will not be allowed in examination hall.” “Students are not allowed to carry any electronic devices inside the exam centre. This includes using device to access ChatGPT so that unfair means is not used,” a senior board official said.

HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL & JR. COLLEGE ,DONDAICHA                                                                                                                                                          190    *                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 What are the important skills a child should develop and at what age?                                                                                                               *

I am thankful to Hon’ble Chairman sir,  of my Hasti public school, Kailas ji Jain , for motivating  me ,  during  an  informal communication,  to think and write about this topic  important *skills a child should develop at different age  while studying at school.  here is a humble attempt.                                                                                                                         If you ask anyone  the most valuable skills they learned in school, they will probably mention non-academic examples.

While skills like English, mathematics and science are undoubtedly crucial to student development, skills like critical thinking, socialising and empathy, among others, will probably be more common answers.                                                                                                             The formative years of a student are spent acquiring knowledge mostly through books in schools and colleges. And, although this knowledge helps the students develop their personalities, it fails to arm them with practical skills that give them a better chance  at the job market.

90% of employment opportunities need the youth to be skilled in some vocation. But, the lack of skills leads to a failure in the youth to secure the job of their dreams.

Today, there is a greater demand for skilled workers. So, it becomes important that the pedagogy emphasizes skill development for students that prepare them for their future careers.

Let’s try and understand skill development  a necessary part of Our Hasti school school and high school education and how it helps students.

As parents, we strive to do everything possible to improve our children’s lives. One of the topics that become so important for our children is to develop right skills at the right age.

One of the most critical stages of development and learning, when kids develop skills quickly, is the first five years of life. During this time frame, child not only grows physically and emotionally but also learns to communicate, think, and socialise. So, it is important for them to develop the gross and fine motor skills at this age.

And it all starts with play. The most learning and developing of a child in their early age happens through play. While play is fun, it gives a child opportunity to explore, observe, experiment. In the world of Early Years Education, this is called a structured play and one of the best ways to lay foundation for all future learning.

A structured play is nothing but ‘play with a purpose’, which offers preschoolers a specific learning objective. Play with a purpose are generally instructor-led, where the teacher sets the tone for the play. For example, at Hasti public school Dondaicha , one of the top schools , our teachers have put a structure in a fun way to show Pincer Grip (the ability to hold something between the thumb and first finger), even during the Virtual schooling. They are asked to do the Pincer Grip for anything they do at home, be it holding the book or eating food. After getting the Pincer grip, the next step would be to put everything in a line to learn the sequence of things.

Likewise, a structured play help develop skills including social and emotional, Language/communication, Movement/physical development, Cognitive (learning, thinking, problem-solving), reading, writing, calculating, listening, and speaking and more.

The next five years, the age till 10 is a critical age to learn essential life skills. During this time frame, children tend to have more complex feelings and control over emotions. Hence, it is vital that the kids are well-prepared for whatever the world throws at them. From writing a letter or email to being able to make up a story using imagination, maintaining a good hygiene, riding a bike, and even about the good touch and bad touch, they should learn these skills at this age. They also need to learn to be kind and compassionate.

Our Hasti Public school  prepares students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others and have the capacity to participate in the world around them. For example, our Hasti school  focus on each individual child’s learning style and setting individualized goals to bring out the very best in each student.

Students are self-directed in their own learning. They get flexibility to inquire into their learning. The environment at our Hasti school  also plays a key role in supporting and extending a child’s development and learning.

By the time they turn 13, there are some significant life skills you will want them to pick up along the way. It takes no time for kids to grow up into teenagers (age between 13-19) and then adults and have a personality and life of their own. Therefore, it is important for them to learn essential life skills like Budgeting, Cooking, Personal development, Cleanliness, Personal Healthcare, Domestic skills, Leadership Skills, Navigational Skills, Problem-solving, Decision-making, etc.

Learning how to cook and cooking healthy food while maintaining hygiene has tremendous value.

How to write out a grocery list while sticking to the budget. From reading nutrition labels to finding good deals, the grocery store is full of valuable lessons.During this age, children should be given a head start about budgeting, saving, and managing expenses.

Doing basic household chores will go far towards raising a responsible adult.

Managing stress is another important skill that needs to be developed. From homework and tests to maintaining friendships, they need to learn to handle stress and understand the importance of self-care.

Being one of the best schools – with its  curriculum has it all. From fireless cooking and grocery shopping through field trips to household chores and managing stress through wellbeing sessions, the school ensures that we develop these important skills when they are the teenagers.                                                                                                                                                                                         *  As children reach the end of their primary school years, they may be interested in taking on leaderships roles. Opportunities like Junior and Senior prefect, house captains  10-15 different  types of moniters etc , our Hasti school’s  Summer Courses, collaboration programs like music , Drama ,Drawing, sports , scouts ,NCC, LEO and eco clubs   work shops and camps  boosts help them develop problem-solving, critical-thinking and leadership skills.

Lastly, the late adolescence, ages eighteen to twenty-one, who mostly desire to go out and explore the world. Hence, they must instill life-skills like Organizational skills, Behavioural skills, Goal setting, Time management, Employability, etc. With learning these skills they become responsible and prepared to face the challenges ahead with ease and confidence. oiur Hasti school provides opportunities to children to orgaanise functions ,activities ,worshops and exhibitions.

CHOSE YOUR WORDS WISELY

HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL & JR. COLLEGE ,DONDAICHA                                                                                                                                                          188

OUR  Hasti school is known for well organised , meaningful and purposeful co scholastic activities to develop public speaking , stage daring and many other skills of 21st century . Our Hasti school is been awarded  as best school in the catatagory of *co scholastic activities

Activities like debate, elocution , declamation and object speaking etc. are some of the activities which provide  & encourqe  our   young and unpolluted minds  to express their views  in style and by choosing proper  and effective  words

We the Hasti school  we believe strongly that  *Words We Choose Shape Our Lives and leave indelible impact on listeners. We try to convince this not only by precept but  by  example.                                                                                                                     *

Words have power. Their meaning crystallizes perceptions that shape our beliefs, drive our behavior, and ultimately, create our world. Words  power arises from our emotional responses when we read, speak, or hear them.

Just say the word “fire” while barbequing, or in the workplace, or in a crowded theater, and you’ll get three completely different but powerful emotional and energetic reactions.

Quantum physics long ago determined that physical matter doesn’t really exist, that everything is just energy in different states of vibration

Nobel Prize winning physicist Werner Heisenberg once stated, “Atoms or elementary particles themselves are not real; they form a world of potentialities or possibilities, rather than one of things or facts.” This energy vibrates at an infinite number of subtle frequencies that cause it to appear as all the different creations we see in our world.

There has been a great deal of research in recent years as to whether the universe we live in is actually a holographic experience, and it seems that this is very close to the truth.

It seems life is more of an energy flow than a collection of solid things.

What that means for us is that if we stay conscious of the energy we contain, based on the emotions we feel, we can make deliberate choices that alter our frequency and create the realities we desire.

If we’re feeling down about something, we can choose to reframe the situation and raise our own spirits. With a renewed perspective and a higher, more positive energetic vibration, we stand a much better chance of bringing good into our lives, rather than bitterly repeating old mistakes.

Words are extremely powerful tools that we can use to uplift our personal energy and improve our lives, though we’re often not conscious of the words we speak, read, and expose ourselves to. Yes, even the words of others can easily affect our personal vibration

Spend a few minutes with a chronic complainer who uses all sorts of negative terms, and you’ll feel your personal energy bottom out.

Words have great power, so choose them (and your friends) wisely!

When you chant om ॐ loudly  and feel the energy. The vibration generated when we speak words bring about change

Japanese scientist, Masaru Emoto performed some of the most fascinating experiments on the effect that words have on energy in the 1990’s When frozen, 1. water that’s free from all impurities will form beautiful ice crystals that look exactly like snowflakes under a microscope.

2 Water that’s polluted, or has additives like fluoride, will freeze without forming crystals.

In his experiments, Emoto poured pure water into vials labeled with negative phrases like “I hate you” or “fear.” After 24 hours, the water was frozen, and no longer crystallized under the microscope: It yielded gray, misshapen clumps instead of beautiful lace-like crystals.

In contrast, Emoto placed labels that said things like “I Love You,” or “Peace” on vials of polluted water, and after 24 hours, they produced gleaming, perfectly hexagonal crystals. Emoto’s experiments proved that energy generated by positive or negative words can actually change the physical structure of an object.

The results of his experiments were detailed in a series of books beginning with The Hidden Messages in Water, where you can see the astounding before and after photos of these incredible water crystals.

*The Power of Gratitude

In another experiment, Emoto tested the power of spoken words. He placed two cups of cooked white rice in two separate mason jars and fixed the lids in place, labeling one jar “Thank You” and the other, “You Fool.”

The jars were left in an elementary school classroom, and the students were instructed to speak the words on the labels to the corresponding jars twice a day. After 30 days, the rice in the jar that was constantly insulted had shriveled into a black, gelatinous mass.

The rice in the jar that was thanked was as white and fluffy as the day it was made. This dramatic example of the power of words is also detailed in Emoto’s books.

Throw-away Words

How many times a day do we throw our words away? We say things like, “I hate my hair,” “I’m so stupid,” “I’m such a klutz.” We never think that these words bring negative energy into our vibration and affect us on a physical level, but they do. Emoto’s experiments were conducted with water. Why? Because sound vibration travels through water four times faster than it does through open air. Consider the fact that your body is over 70% water and you’ll understand how quickly the vibration from negative words resonates in your cells. Ancient scriptures tell us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. As it turns out, that’s not a metaphor.

Say That Again

Some of us are in the habit of using the same negative words over and over again out of habit. The problem is that the more we hear, read, or speak a word or phrase, the more power it has over us.

This is because the brain uses repetition to learn, searching for patterns and consistency as a way to make sense of the world around us. Only after being burned a few times can we understand that fire is always hot. may not remember the exact end date of the Civil War, but odds are you still know what 8 x 9 is because you had to repeat your multiplication tables over and over again, drilling it into your consciousness.

I’m sure you’ve experienced having a song stuck in your head all day long, and try as you might, you just can’t get the melody out of your head

Repetition is the most powerful tool to imprint something into our minds and keep it there.

This is of particular concern when we consider a phenomenon called the Illusion of Truth Effect. It basically proves that any statement we read, see, or speak regularly is seen as more valid than one we’re exposed to only occasionally.

Repetition increases our mental validation of anything we’re exposed to, which is why it works so well in political propaganda.

Now consider how many times you’ve falsely called yourself stupid, untalented, ugly, or anything else, and you begin to understand how your internal propaganda shapes a false self-image.

So choose your words wisely and understand the power of words in shaping our personality and in influencing people around you .The way you speak is imporetant but more important is the words you use.

To support my view point I am attaching a small video clip I am sure you would love to hear it again

Your feed back will encourage me .

AI writing tools and education

what teachers need to know in 2023

AI is by no means anything new. The concept dates back to 400 BC when according to Greek mythology, Talos, a giant winged robot made of bronze, was created to protect Europa by flying three times a day around the island of Crete.

My own first association with AI in education came after watching the 2001 Steven Spielberg film AI Artificial Intelligence. Along with the film, there was a website that featured a chatbot. People could type in questions, which the bot would then answer.

I used this with a class of 12-year-olds in a  Railway school  to help them develop their written fluency and give them the opportunity to communicate in English. At the time, they didn’t know the ‘person’ answering their questions was an AI bot. They did eventually find out, though.

AI has made huge advances. Fast forward to November 2022 when a company called OpenAI launched a program called ChatGPT. ChatGPT is remarkable because it can create very detailed responses to complex questions. It can also respond to follow-up questions and refine, change and even evaluate its own output.

The most interesting and controversial aspect of this for educators is that you can enter any assignment question and get ChatGPT to write you a passably good answer in seconds. You can then ask it to refine the answer, adding in any personal opinions or details you choose. In addition, ChatGPT can create a rubric for marking the assignment. It can then write detailed feedback on the assignment it has produced.

Of course, this raises many issues connected with academic assessment, the potential for cheating and the development of both students’ thinking and writing skills. On the other hand, it does also offer huge opportunities for the educational community to rethink how they evaluate students’ knowledge and thinking around a subject. For many, this is a change that’s long overdue.

How can AI be used in the classroom?

There are a number of tools now available either for free or at very low cost that teachers and students can take advantage of. Futurepedia lists hundreds of AI-based tools that are capable of a vast range of different tasks. Here are a few examples:

Text-to-speech software

Movio has been making significant improvements in the quality of text-to-speech software. Using Natural Language Processing, AI can better understand the context of the text being produced. This enables the AI-produced speech to be more accurate in replicating human intonation and pronunciation patterns. This combined with AI-produced avatars and presentations generated from text input can enable us to produce very convincing instructional videos that would usually require actors and expensive video production equipment.

Make images and illustrations

DALL·E 2, which is also produced by OpenAI, can produce original illustrations based on text input. Just type in a description of what you want to see in the image, then tell it what style you want, and the AI software will produce a range of images for you to choose from. This is great for adding illustrations to our students’ creative work or the materials we produce for students.

Detect plagiarism

Programs like Detect GPT, a free Google Chrome plugin and Originality.AI, claim to be able to detect whether AI has been used in the composition of student assignments. This could become an essential tool for teachers as the use of AI writing tools become prevalent in schools.

Chat with historical figures

If you are teaching history, your students can now chat with characters from history and ask them questions using Character.AI. Character.AI hosts a collection of chatbots which are powered by information about various historical and fictional characters from Plato to SpongeBob. Users can choose which ones they want to interact with and then get them to answer questions.

This is a much more natural way of finding information and pushes students to come up with the right questions to ask. For extra help, they can ask ChatGPT to provide questions for them.

Produce stories

If you teach younger children, then something like Storywizard.AI can be used to produce short illustrated stories for them. Include your students as characters, or can add any specific character or theme you want to explore with them. This can be done in minutes and then enhanced and edited to make it more suitable for your students.

Enhance your searches

Add a free Google Chrome extension that will show information from ChatGPT alongside any of your searches. This gives you more background information about your search requests and can help guide students in their selection of which links to explore when searching.

What are the pros and cons of AI software in education?

Potential benefits to the use of AI software in education

Chatbots can handle many of the FAQ type doubts that students commonly have. This could take some of the load off course tutors, especially those teaching online.

AI can give students quite detailed feedback on written assignments, too. This can help them work more autonomously and also lighten the load for teachers when marking assignments.

AI programs like ChatGPT can be used to rapidly create course materials that we can tailor to the needs, context, interests and level of our students. This is going to make it much easier to produce materials that are both differentiated and inclusive.

AI software can support our students’ curiosity and autonomous learning 24/7. Any time they have a question, they can find a detailed and well-constructed answer.

Limitations of AI programs

Any AI software is only ever as good as the data that powers it. Data can be biased, incorrect or use dubious sources. We need to make sure our students understand this and help them develop critical thinking skills to check the accuracy of the information.

AI software can only produce output based on mixing together the sources of information and data that powers it, so it’s not really capable of producing anything that is truly ‘original’. Though, to be fair, much creativity and innovation is based on combining things that already exist.

AI can’t think. It doesn’t have opinions, morals or ethical values. It can only use data to respond to prompts.

AI can make mistakes, so anything it produces needs to be checked against other trustworthy sources.

.

What does the future of AI software hold for us in education?

Regardless of how we may feel about the role of AI software in education, we can be certain that it isn’t going away. If anything, its potential role will increase both in the classroom, the home and in the workplace.

In terms of producing written text, it’s likely that tools like ChatGPT will take over much of the ‘heavy lifting’ in our day today lives. That leaves us with the task of editing, adapting and checking the text for style and accuracy.

As an  educators with the task of developing and assessing students’ knowledge and skills, we are going to be faced with a number of decisions:

We can try to ban AI tools and go back to handwritten paper-based exams, as some institutions are suggesting.

We can try to educate ourselves and our students about how to work with AI in a productive way that enhances their ability to learn.

We can look for new ways to evaluate our students’ abilities to think and prove their understanding of a topic.

Whichever way we choose to deal with the issue, I think we would all agree that we need to engage with and understand what AI can do. We also need to ensure that we are equipping our students with the skills they need for their future, while ensuring the integrity of the methods we use to assess and certify those skills.

Consider whether our  Hasti school may need to conduct a digital skills gap analysis.

What do you think about banning AI? How do we develop students’ writing skills in an age where they can simply get most of the work done for them?

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF WOMEN AND GIRLS

186

Why is the 11th of Feb celebrated as International Day of Women and Girls in Science?

Why do we need International Day of Women and Girls in Science you might ask? Male chauvinism, dominance, patriarchy, sexism—just to name a few forms of inequalities women face today. So it will not be an overstatement to say that every woman has firsthand experience in some type of injustice directed at them.                                                                                                                                                 Third-world countries are the worst when it comes to women’s rights. Not only are women in science prevented from pursuing their dreams and ambitions by going to colleges, but they are also forced into marriages they don’t want, to have children they don’t need, and then economically ostracised, made to depend on their partners.

Help your women in science to excel

But what are women, if not queens of fortitude? Thousands of women beat seemingly impossible, and undoubtedly improbable, odds and achieve great things. In the tumultuous competition among men, some women fought and made their voices heard. With sheer grit, hard work, and perseverance, they have reached monumental heights that most men can only fantasize about. Before learning about their contribution to science, let’s first know how the International Day of Women and Girls in Science came about.

History

It was the United Nations General Assembly’s 70th session. In this gathering, the famous Sustainable Development Goals’ was passed, which is a list of 17 interlinked global goals that serve to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.” The theme of that year’s session was “A new commitment to action.” True to their theme and a new goal, on December 22nd of 2015, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution named A/RES/70/212. UNESCO and UN women implemented the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, and it was declared to be celebrated on February 11th every year. Institutions around the globe and civil society partners collaborate and strive to obtain unbiased opportunities for women in science.

However, the participation of women in STEM fields is not equal to that of men. Only around 30 per cent of researchers in the world are women. In engineering-related areas, their enrollment is just 8%, and in maths, it is a bleak 5%.

But this data is still better than the last century where women had to fight even more challenging odds. Let’s look at some of these warriors of the bygone era.

Famous women in science fields

Marie Curie*

There is no way I can start off this fantastic list for International Day of Women and Girls in Science without the mother of radioactivity herself. And no, I was not exaggerating when I said the ‘mother’ of radioactivity. She coined the term, after all. Born as Marie Sklodowska to poor parents in Poland, she obtained her rhyming surname after marrying Pierre Curie. With her attitude of never giving up in the field of chemistry, this researcher discovered Polonium and Radium. This paved the way for the discovery of many pieces of equipment that are used for diagnosing and treating cancer. A fighter till the end, she was known for working even when she was dying of radiation. The same radiation she discovered to the betterment of humanity. A classic example of a scientific martyr.

Women in science

Chien-Shiung Wu

Known for working in the infamous Manhattan Project, this Chinese-born experimental physicist’s colossal contributions actually lies in the disproving of the ‘principle of conservation of parity.’ Even though she led the team of this project, only her male colleagues went on to win Nobel Prizes while she was unrecognized. However, we will always remember her as ‘First Lady of Physics.’

Cecilia Payne

An ardent lover of everything space, she finished her early education at Cambridge University. But sadly, in the 1920s, it didn’t matter if a girl completed her course or not. Either way, they weren’t granted a degree. However, with a passion for exploring the never-ending universe, she travelled to the US and became the first person to earn a doctorate in Astronomy from Harvard. In the same university, she became the first woman to head the Department of Astronomy. Her curiosity about the stars and her eventual pursuit did not go in vain. Because she finally discovered what stars are made of and shared the secret with the world.

Katie Bouman

Unlike the previous entries, Katie’s contribution to science is still ongoing. She did what was thought to be impossible—photographing the all-powerful but incredibly elusive blackhole. I mean, how do you even take a picture of something that doesn’t even let light escape its gravity. The light that cameras use to photograph something. If you’ve discovered an answer to this paradox, then you are two years too late because Katie already beat you to it.

One blog isn’t going to cover all the women in STEM fields who contributed or still contribute aplenty to science. Even ten encyclopedia-sized books aren’t going to be enough. While it is important to learn about all of them, there are other women in different fields who achieved tremendous things in the world, too.

Other notable contemporaries

Jane Austen

The author of Pride and Prejudice was a tragic one. Though she is one of the most influential figures in the literary world, she never got credit for her works when she lived, publishing her books anonymously. But now, the whole world knows and rightly celebrates her ingenuity.

Mother Teresa

Describing her contribution as ‘God’s work,’ she dedicated her life to the betterhood of poor people. She also started the ‘Missionaries of Charity,’ which receives contributions across the world, who still carries on the mantle Mother Teresa lit and helps the poor.

Malala Yousafzai

At the age of 14, this girl won the Nobel Peace Prize and became the youngest ever to have been awarded such an honour. She fought for women’s education. That doesn’t give you enough reason to believe she deserves a Nobel Prize? Well, she also fought for women’s education against the Taliban because she had firsthand experience living under their rule.

role of women in science

It is clear that women and girls are not just going to help change the world but be the reason for it. Some women dedicate their lives, some literally give their lives, for science and the betterment of humanity. To try and prevent their passion and extinguish the fire inside them is nothing short of an exercise in futility. They have proven time and again that they are in no way less to men. So it is our duty as the posterity of yesterday and the history of tomorrow to fight for their right to education and involvement in science. Let’s make sure every day becomes an International Day of Women

LEARNING ROBOTICS AND ITS BENEFITS

HASTI PUBLIC SCHOOL & JR. COLLEGE ,DONDAICHA                                                                                                                                                          185

Education has changed considerably in the past few years. With new technologies entering classrooms across the world, and the broad implementation of remote learning caused by the pandemic, things have been very different for students.

At our Hasti school students are  always interested in learning about the newest advancements in technology and one of the things that have caught our attention recently has been the increasing use of educational robots.

Learning  robotics give students the key computer skills that have become essential in the job market. As the *workforce increasingly moves towards STEM careers, the demand for computer programmers, technology experts and software engineers is higher than ever – and there’s also the potential to enjoy high salaries in these fields.

Currently, not enough students are leaving school and university with the STEM skills that companies require, but, by learning how to program robots and use technology from a young age, they will be better prepared for the competitive workforce of tomorrow.

Learning with robots also develops a range of other skills that employers look for, such as problem-solving skills, analytical reasoning and computational thinking.

India’s rapid technological development is at the pinnacle of its economic and social development. Therefore, introducing students to technology at an early age improves their technological fluency and prepares them for a future-ready Indian workforce.

The students’ creative horizons are broadened by technology introduction which provides real problem-solving skills and enhance out-of-the-box thinking. Therefore, advances like artificial intelligence, STEM education, machine learning, etc., can enhance their decision-making ability and empower them to take independent decisions.

In the field of education, robotics has gained prominence due to its ability to promote a student’s holistic development. Students are provided with a comprehensive empowerment program focusing on developing and applying core life skills and allowing them the opportunity to prove themselves in a world full of competition and excellence.

How do you define robot and robotics

A robot is a machine or device that is well-programmed and can perform specific tasks based on inputs or commands. While some robots are designed for science purpose, some are designed to do things which human beings can’t do.

Robotics is an interdisciplinary branch of computer science and engineering which involves design, construction, operation and use of robots.

Over the years, automation & robotics has made life and learning a lot more seamless, efficient and productive. From household to organizational & industrial applications, robotics has changed the way humans are evolving. The use of robotics in daily life has evolved over a period of time. And, with rapid technological advances and the rise of metaverse, learning robotics programme is now a critical need for students, worldwide.

A number of sectors, including healthcare, education, manufacturing, and entertainment, have embraced robotics in India.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     It is therefore critical to expose students to robots at a young age as it can expand their horizons and prepare them for future. Robotics in India is a wave of automation and liberalization. The learning of STEM subjects, concepts, and their application in the real world may provide a strong foundation for the student’s future education.

Benefits of Robotics

Besides being seamless, cost effective, and time saving, robotics can be applied in tough and challenging environments which would be very difficult for humans to deal with. They also provide quality and consistency besides being very accurate and do not get affected by climatic factors.

In addition to helping young students develop cognitive skills and mathematical thinking, learning robotics give them skills that they can implement to other areas of their education.

There is a whole world of benefits of robotics. Some of them are listed below:

Learning robotics & its benefits

Unlike the generations before them, the current generation is more technologically advanced and agile, which makes learning and dealing with robots and artificial intelligence a much more smoother task. The uses of robotics in daily life are multifold –from education, transportation, healthcare, manufacturing industrial applications, entertainment, households, safety defence and much more.

While domestic robots have been deployed to do all household chores, they are also being deployed for security and surveillance purposes.

Apart from this, learning robotics help in encouraging innovation and critical thinking, facilitates problem solving technique, enhances leadership skills, develops student’s writing, oral expression skill and fine motor skills among others.

It will be enjoyable for children to learn how to make machines perform the movements or actions they desire while developing their mathematical, logical, and reading skills, among other abilities.

On the educational front, robots and simulators are a blessing for autistic students as robots can be programmed to make learning and absorbing knowledge easier for them. For other students, adding simulators and customizing experience for individual students can go a long way in making education more interesting, fun and exciting. This was seen during the pandemic as robotics and artificial intelligence collaborated to bring online learning to students across the world. Robotics also positively impacts students by catalyzing problem solving & analytical skills, fostering a solutions-oriented mindset and promote creative thinking.

The students can gain a better understanding and interpretation of their reality through the use of educational robotics during the teaching-learning process. ————————————————————————————————————————————————-
