When students get involved in community service, they not only help others but they expand their worldview, develop empathy and leadership skills, and realize how their actions can have a positive impact*. … That’s why Our Hasti School believes community service is important for students. Most importantly, students learn that the work they do can make a real impact in the world. By getting involved in community service at a young age, children also practice

Service Learning can be most impactful when it is genuinely student driven. We at Hasti School are Encouraging and enabling students to collaborate and research where Service Learning may be most valuable or what might be most meaningful to them
As part of a team effort, students at our Hasti Schools came up with organizations they wanted to provide a service for and each organization was based on a personal connection students had to that organization. For example, one student’s grandparent once were admitted to the hospital and had to remain there for longer period and because he had memories of his grandparents there , he wanted to participate. The students all agreed to visit hospitals and to spend time with patients , read stories, play board games and “story tell” with elderly patients . Because they have made personal connections, they look forward to returning with fresh ideas on how to connect and share time with them
Service learning is an amazing way for students to learn about fundamental concepts such as giving and collaborating. It not only prepares a child in the classroom, but gives valuable insights into the community and practical application of their knowledge in the real world In turn, it helps them to not only be successful adults, but good people. Finding a school that embraces the concept helps your children advance and grow, both in the short term and for the rest of their lives.

“Khari Kamai” project of scout and Guides in our Hasti school where 100 % students are enrolled and registered with the Scout organization . children actually offer their services to community
LEO club of our Hasti school regularly organizes visits to orphanage, Old age home , distribute lamps for Diwali along with oil to the children living in slum areas as well. Children spend time, play with them, give them gifts
Future Community Service Projects of our Hasti school for children

1. Book Drive
Collect books throughout the year to donate to local homeless shelters, children’s hospitals, and more. .
2. Cards for Soldiers
Writing cards to servicemen and women overseas during the holidays (and throughout the year) is a great way to support our troops while also giving an opening for talking about history, social studies, geography, and more.
3. Penny Drive
Find a penny pick it up, all year long you’ll save enough! Host a penny drive throughout the year using large water cooler jugs to hold the pennies. At the end of the year, donate the money to a
4. For the Dogs (and Cats!)
Local animal shelters and rescue groups are always in need of newspapers, old towels and blankets, and pet food donations.
5. Host a Walk
For a more involved project a charity walk at the local track. Not only does it encourage students to support a cause, it also gives them a great opportunity to learn while managing the many details of such an event.
6. “ Birthday Boxes ” Birthday Boxes.’ Put cake mix, frosting, candles, as well as, a few toys [in a box]. Then we donate them to families in need of a birthday cake
7. Recycle for a Cause
Recycling is not only good for the environment, it is also good for the soul. For ex.One class to collect aluminum cans throughout the year. Take the cans to a recycling place. where they give money for them, and donate the money in class’s name to the Humane Society to recycle.
8. Spend Time with seniors
Many seniors love spending time with children and children love spending time with them. “Singing, playing recorder, playing BINGO, dancing, writing letters, doing any sort of art with seniors at a nursing home
Service learning, in an elementary school, results in the older students helping to teach their younger counterparts essential reading skills. *After working and collaborating together, all of the students gain something: the younger children learn how to read, while older students begin to understand patience, understanding, and taking the time necessary to get a point across.
